The O6 – part of DI and part of “the hostiles”

Hello, I have been reading the theories posted on this site for a few months now and I decided to contribute with some of my own. This is my first time ever posting a theory, so I apologize if if it has been said before.

Since the beginning of season 5, I’ve been thinking of how would the process of “getting back” to the island happen. I thought a.) maybe the O6 would appear in a different timeline or b.) the losties would eventually get trapped in some ‘time prison’ and when the O6 came back they wouldn’t be able to notice their presence. Well, it’s too late for those theories now, I know.

So now, after this week’s episode, and after seeing Kate, Hurley and Jack on the island but not knowing where the others were (Sayid, Sun, etc.), I started thinking: What if the same way Jack, Hurley and Kate were found by Jin, Sayid and the others were found by, say, Richard? Or some of the ones Dharma called “the hostiles”?

I believe that Sawyer, Jin, Juliet (and maybe Rose and Bernard eventually showed up, too) have been working with Dharma for 2/3 years, since the time Locke turned the wheel and stopped the shifts. So, Jack, Kate and Hurley somehow are introduced as “help” by Jin and the others, and are accepted into Dharma. Meanwhile, assuming that 316 did crash and not that many survived (just enough to introduce some new people to the show), Sayid and Co. meet the hostiles and learn their lifestyles and their purposes/beliefs (to hold the island as a sacred place and protect it from the ones who are trying to exploit it – DI). They understand the dangers of the Dharma work and they join in the hostiles attemps to scare or stop them.

I hope with time I get better at “writting my own theory”, I’m not sure I explained myself well enough or said everything I wanted to say. And if sometimes I seem incoherent, I’m sorry, English is not my first language. Just hope it makes sense to someone.

  1. Oompaloompa! Yeah!

It makes perfect dramatic sense that the castaways would, having gone back in time, break a stalemate between the Dharma people and the indiginous residents. Great idea!

  2. Thank you, swilson0781 and Andre7.
I’m glad I was able to get my point across to someone.

I have always wondered about how the hostiles lived their lives probably devoted to and appreciated of the properties of the island. Then these people get there, who seem to just want to, in their eyes, destroy it. I don’t think it would be hard to convince ME, if I had been through what the losties went through, that the island should be protected, as it is such a powerful and miraculous place, from those who are trying to exploit it.

  3. I like the idea of seeing one half of our Losties working for one “faction” and the others working for the other side of the coin. There is always drama within the group, which adds to it. Lost wouldn’t be Lost if Jack and Sawyer were not always at each others throats, or if there was not constant inner turmoil within the group.

This could just be an extension of that.

    Nice theory!

  4. Thank you!

And emzi, Ben always brings such twists to the show, that I can’t even bring myself to antecipate them. He explicitly told Locke that who turned the wheel could never come back, which makes me wonder WHAT he had to do to earn his ticket back. And then, what his task/destiny is now, on the island.
