General theories on Lost – a small summary
Ok, so I watched E08, and noticed something on the entire egypt-anubis-statue theory:
– Sawyer has suddenly inhabitated a striking resembliance to Anubis!
Outstanding ears: check
Long, flat hair: check
And, as thats not enough: Anubis has the head of a jackal, and con artists are oftenly called jackals!
So, where does this leave us? Unfortunately nowhere… Until we consider this:
Kan Horace be Sawyers rivals, as Horus is Anubis’? After all, there is a striking resembliance to the names, right? I firmly believe this has to mean something, and would any input!
Next thing. There is no doubt religion, and especially Christianity, has a strong role in the series.
So, Christian Shepherd. Both names are directly drawn out of the bible. This got me thinking; What more does christianity meddle with?
We all know John Locke’s got a special part in this. His relations to the Island and all that circles around it are quite astounding. So, look at this. Matthew Abaddon is more important than you think! The name “Abbadon” is in Johns book in the Bible described as the devil, A place of vast destruction, and a pit lord controlling vast amounts of nasty creeps with fangs and wings.
Not with me yet? Ok, look at this. In Revelation 9:11 (Yeah, you heard me, 9:11), Abbadon is described as a “Place of death” – quite similar to the remains of the Twin Towers.
So, whats this got to do with John Locke? All of the above is in Johns book, and the following verse from John 3:16 is quite describing as for Johns role on the Island:
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. — John 3:16
And, by the way, didnt Lockes alarm go off at 3:16 every mornings some seasons ago?
To take it all further, I think I have a possible explenation on why Locke’s got to bring them back.
This is what Jesus said to Nicodemus to convince him of his holiness:
Jesus’ miracles have convinced Nicodemus that Jesus is sent from God.
In reply, Jesus declares, “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again”
Someone clearly has to reborn to unveil the mystery, and I’m guessing its Locke!
Hows that for farfetched?
(I appreciate feedback)

Horus and Anubis are not rivals. You may be confusing Anubis with Set. Anubis was something of the personification of death itself. However, in Egyptian culture death and evil where not interchangeable concepts as they have become in our society for whatever reason. Anubis was revered because his role in the journey of death was the first major step towards life after death… think of him as Peter at the Pearly Gates, only with a much more bad-ass outfit. The character of Anubis is more like a dark priest than a renegade con-man vigilante… Matthew Abbadon’s character actually reminded me of what I would imagine Anubis would act like… cold, somber and exacting.
schackt, I really like the biblical references to John Locke.
It is hard to ignore the name of Abbadon and the references to that name.
Nice tie-in.
Oh, another thought just came up, about John 3:16 and the verse.
What if the reason why everyone follows Jacob blindly, is because they believe it will bring them eternal life?
Someone’s asked how Richard always know Jacobs will, without ever talking to him. What if Jacob’s showed himself to Richard in some sort of an epiphany, like in the bible? Might it be, that Richard is only an apostle to the true son of the Island – John Locke…?
wasn’t the flight 316 too?
i’m ready for bed and can’t be bothered to look myself and will have a look on my lunch bread tomorow!
