I am an disgruntled fan of Lost. I love to hate it and hate it to love it. JJ is notorious for letting down fans but I don't hold it against Lost. I have a crazy theory that has been brewing for the last year now and I will be posting it shortly. Forgive my tirades and bitter comments. I get on edge when I can't get my Lost fix.

  1. I was trying to figure that out during the episode, and I was even trying to look hard at it specifically, but I think the point of it, which was gotten across – was that Churchill (or whoever) would read a book every night before bed to help him think, and that’s what he was doing.

  2. Andre7– The ending is in one the those books, if you refer to my post “Those Dreaded Words” you will see how something so small and I haven’t heard anyone discuss is full of rich and almost identical concepts and shed light on a few things… a lot of books are red herrings or asides to the audience like the book that Ben was reading on the 316 flight… of course He would be reading a book like that… the Bad Twin… while many think it was a red herring I do not… I just know cloning will come up in some form or another. But the book Valis was over looked and so rich and ripe with parrellel cirumstances that I think it is one of the main clues to answering the questions about Lost and thus being able to accurately perdict where the end is going and if I want to stick around for it…I know as Los fans who post on these kind of forums are addicted and obessive about every little detail and spend hours with screencaps and scouring Lostpedia… but I am on a mission… Lost is original but in today’s world all the themes and conflicts that one can write about have been played out so often and so many times that there really is nothing original left. To me Lost is becoming increasingly frustrating and not in a good way because I have this sense of deja vu… I know I have read something similar to this with a few twists but I saw those twists coming (well, except for Jacob and the Smoke Monster, those two things that I don’t think they will ever be able to truly convince they had a logic behind just teasers and fillers). So there, that is my thing, what is yours?

  3. cocafreckles, I re-watched the episode again and paid close attention to the book.

You can’t see the cover, or any print on the side of it, so I suppose it was something not that important.

I’m aware of your theory, so I promise to do due diligence on any future books shown.
