Jacob – What? Another Theory?
Yeah yeah. Another.
When Ms. Hawking mentions Locke, she states he’s going back to the island to be (insert some word I forgot here). We don’t know what the word means (or I don’t), but to me it shows that he is going to move on to a higher level of existence, a spiritual transition to be something higher.
If you look at others that are seen, Christian being a prime example, or perhaps even Claire. They are some symbolic form of Angels (best way I can put). Now my theory with Jacob is that he previously made this transition, a long time ago. There being a heirarchy (always is in nature), Jacob is the most powerful of them all. So what are they? I believe they are all spiritual extensions of the island.
I believe, spiritually, the everything is linked, that collectively, we and everything in the universe are one. Some people understand and can shape the world around them, central to their location. Jacob, lord knows how old, having transitioned as we have seen Christian, has such a strong presence in conjunction with the island, this is why he can control so much of what goes on on the island.
And just to put it out there, this is not a “Jacob is the island” theory – I’m just saying as a higher being, he has mastered the ability to shape the world around him, his powers being pulled from the island. (sorry if i confused you, i did the best i could)

a proxy?
NO. I don`t like your theory/comment..again. But hey, it doesn`t mean you`re not right, I`m just saying I would prefer a more scientific explanation, the “divine ” path would suck big time in 90% of the viewers` eyes
I would like reasons why you disagree, other than just “I don’t like it”. I can’t respect an opinion with no supporting data. At least i’m thinking.
Yes Henry, a Proxy – thanks :).
So Jacob, Christian, and Locke are all proxies, but jacob is the oldest and most powerful of them all.
As for you not liking the “Divine” path Jeudah, you might as well have already turned your TV Off because nothing is more biblical than the resurrection of Locke. The Divine path is very probable. Sorry You don’t like, go watch Heroes.
TehIgnored, there is no question that we are all part of the ‘collective consciousness’.
Lost is about faith! Aside of the time travel aspects, and the physics and science, I believe the story will all come down to faith, judgement and redemption.
This is something we have been witnessing with the characters transgressions and transformations since the beginning of the show.
The very name “Shephard” in itself is biblical in its meaning and how it relates to Christian. He literally is leading his ‘flock’.
Let’s not forget John Locke, the newly resurrected John Locke!
The ancient civilization who were the first inhabitants of ‘the island’ were from biblical times.
There is no denying the aspects of the presence of faith, whether it is widely embraced or not!
I would have to think, that would be a very small minority!
I really like your thoughts, and theories.
TehIgnored, you need a dictionary. A proxy just means a “stand in”. Locke was a stand in for Christian in the re-creation of the 815 crash.
Hey T r u saying that Mr. Locke is Jacob?
“We don
My good friend , I was gonna be polite again, but seems like you lost yours in the process. Your statement ” at least I`m thinking ” is true only in your eyes and mind. According to me, you`re not thinking at all ,just take a look at your own theories. Yet another redneck trapped in a fat house wife`s body believing he found the answer to something vital. You get zero points in my notebook, and a black dot for being an a..hole.
ok ok calm down people lets not make this site go down the path of Lost Theories. Can you just agree to disagree?
Although Jeudah i understand that TehIgnored did kind of insult you about the “go watch heroes” bit just dont react and keep ure mind thinking on how to help us explain the mysteries of Lost. After all isn’t that what we’re here for?
ok bigdaveg , no biggie
Very good theory tehignored…:)
Ok, let me start out with an apology to Jeudah, it wasn’t meant as insult, only pointing out that the biblical references are extremely strong. I’m far from a redneck, and my girlfriend is sitting right there, Iggysgal. Please do not speak ill of her.
Lost – Just because there is a dictionary definition of the word Proxy, this does not mean it is not being used as a proper noun with specific meaning within the show.
Bigdave – my use of the word “angel” was not meant as literal, only to show a being of higher consciousness. As for building a theory around a word I could not recall, does not mean the thoughts and intentions were not there. Sometimes I cannot always place the words in place that I mean to when discussing abstract theories. You are correct we have not seen Jacob “use his powers”, but we have seen glimpses of happenings on the island that Locke claimed to be “The island” acting. No proof that Jacob was the one acting on behalf of the island, but this is the basis of my theory.
I respect the different opinions of everyone, i am far from set in mine, only trying to place out here thoughts i have had.
Hmm very well argued 🙂 I like it
But yea I agree with jeudah that there must be a scientific quantifiable explanation to the island and the things that happen their :O
But I think faith will play a big part but proven to be falsley induced by something perfectly explainable. 😛
Sounds just like the real world I.O
Hehe

Thanks, and I understand your sentiment regarding science – my father was a man of science and needed proof for everything. But there’s nothing scientific about finding your soulmate, nothing scientific about my mother getting into a huge accident about 4 years ago, car totaled on the highway, airevac to the hospital, yet I just went to the grocery store and McDonalds with her just a few hours ago.
I agree it will turn out like the real world, I just believe that to be a mix between science and faith (not to be mixed with religion). This will likely be a driving factor in many peoples opinion regarding Lost – are you a man of science (Jack) or a man of faith (Locke)? Or both (Ben?…)?
Jeudah – no need for the insults. Thank you.
