Is Jacob trying to change the past/future
Oh Jacob, Jacob Jacob. I tried not to do one of the usual “who is Jacob” theories.
So Jacob tells Locke that HE needs to move the island. We find this out when Locke sets the wheel back on its axis when Christian tells him that he was supposed to turn the wheel not Ben. But, Locke does not move the island when Jacob tells him to, Ben does. But, if Ben did not turn the wheel and screw everything up where Sayer and company where flashing in time, they would never have ended up in the 70’s? Or
So when Jacob tells Locke that he needs to move the island is he trying to change things bu getting him to move the island instead of Locke? Even if the wheel skips if John turns the wheel and Sawyer and company do end up time skipping Ben would still be on the island for a while instead of Locke. All the things he did off island during this time never would have occurred.
So, is Jacob attempting to change the past/future. Is there something the losties do in the seventies that he doens’t want to happen?
It has been discussed that maybe Jacob is trapped in his cabin because of some time conscience mess up. Either Jacob is looking out for the greater good of the island… or he is looking out for himself.
If he is looking out for the greater good then there are things in the past such as Ben becoming an other and/or some of the losties coming back to the island that he thinks shouldn’t happen.
Or, and this is just speculation kind of added on to a theory, he is trying to save himself. We don’t know who Jacob is but I don’t think he was always trapped in the cabin. Did something happen during the incident that caused his entrapment. Or did he become trapped because of something Ben or someone else did as a consequence of Ben originally turning the wheel and setting all the events of this season is motion?
What do you guys think?

Nice theory!!
“God loved you as HE loved Jacob” – Room 23
yeah, it really feels like jacob was not always stuck in that cabin. it’s interesting how the cabin appears from time to time. almost summoned like richard was in the last epsisode. any thoughts on that?
NMB, Jacob works in mysterious ways, that’s for sure!
We learned from Christian Shepherd, that Jacob wanted Locke to move the FDW, not Ben. Ben knocked the FDW off of its axis, so this is what caused ‘the island’ to skip. I have to believe this is the way Ben planned it to happen to set up all of the events which needed to play out.
If Locke had turned the FDW, instead of Ben the first time, ‘the island’ wouldn’t have skipped around so much initially, and who knows what would have happened.
I do think, Jacob’s activities on ‘the island’ are being curtailed, for whatever reason, and this could have resulted from the infamous ‘incident’, or something else that happened when Ben gained control of ‘the island’.
I do believe Richard Alpert and Jacob are NOT playing for the same team!
Really nice thoughts here!
Maybe the cabin’s time skipping …
I thought the donkey wheel was off it’s axis so the whole island was, too.
