Confirmed Dead – ISSUES!!!
Sorry to steer off course, but I posted this in Questions and I am afraid it will slip between the cracks!
I would love someone to answer this question for me as it has bugged me for a couple of years.
In the season four episode ‘Confirmed Dead’, we see flashBACKS (??) of Frank, Miles, Daniel and Charlotte. Are these scenes all supposedly taking place at the same time, before they are recruited to take off to the island on the freighter? I would imagine so, as they all read/watch/listen to breaking news that LFight 815 has been found at the bottom of the ocean. The only thing that throws me off is the fact that Daniel does not seem to be in his right mind at all. Not exactly the type of person you would think eligible to be recruited for any job at all, let alone a job of this magnitude.
SO, is Daniel doing the whole Desmond conscience time-travel trick, or am I losing my marbles altogether????
He could be.
I’m thinking he was hired because Widmore knew he had to be there to go through the time jumps and land in the 70s. If he didn’t, time would change. (Whatever happened, happened 😉 ).
Daniel does seem very upset about the news and I hope we see why soon 🙂

I can understand WIdmore wanting to be there, but don’t understand how Daniel miraculously grabs hold of his senses and becomes lucid again. Time will tell I guess…

It does seem to be reminiscent of when Desmond wakes with a new memory of seeing Daniel at the hatch door. This may be a clue to the fact that Daniel may be like Desmond. It has been discussed before.
At first, i assumed he was upset but didn’t know why because this is actually his second time around. He’s already been to the island, saw charlotte die, lived through a few years in the 70’s and is now in 2004, sitting in his house, crying over a plane wreckage. Although this is really only applicable if the time loop theory works. and i hate the time loop theory. So basically….i have no idea.
This is most likely physically, all of them except one actually being who and where they are supposed to be, in a flashback sense.
But I think Daniels confusion is caused by some sort of change to the original timeline, or alternate reality of some sort. Thats just my opinion though.
I must say, a great thought and question.
I have actually been planning a Faraday theory based on this scene, but I just cannot put the pieces together.
