Hoth – a resurrection of DI
Knowing not about StarWars Hoth but that the title is significant I looked it up in the preliminary ref of all, Wikipedia. Maybe I missed previous posts to significance – but what if the Rebels are DI and the Empire are the Others. The Others won the battle (the purge), and in the process nabbed DI’s stuff … but DI is planning a big win return. We all know Miles is back for a reason (spy). If so, Daddy issues would be resolved …

Time to go watch Star Wars…
The writers have acknowledged that they are huge fans of Star Wars.
Ewoks Suck dudes!!
haha Hurley wrote the script w000!!
🙂
Skil1
I think the fact that the writers are huge fans of Star Wars won’t necessarily affect the plot… I think it was just a show of their love of Star Wars that they threw in the part of Hurley writing Star Wars… I don’t think they’re copying the plot, though…
the writers are also fans of the Hitch Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, thus the final number of the swan hatch code thingy is 42. but I honestly doubt they will do the whole star wars thingy with miles, i think it was just a great way for Hurley to give Miles advice.
I think you really have to actually watch Star Wars to see any resemblence… and if there is a resemblence, you got it backwards. In the Star Wars universe, the Rebels are almost always shown wearing brown or green clothing and often dress as savages. The Empire is known for wearing white or black. The symbol for the Empire bears some resemblence to the Dharma logo.
Some of the prevalent themes that are similar include the whole children thing. Clair and Jack could be seen as parallels for Luke and Leia… Sawyer could be Han Solo… the smoke monster could be “the force”. Whatever. The main difference is that Star Wars was a blatant portrayal of Good vs. Evil personified by the two sides of the The Force and by the Empire and the Rebels. LOST really doesn’t have that kind of clear distinction and at this point, 4 seasons into the show, we still don’t really even know who are the good guys and who are the bad guys… except that we pretty much all agree that Ben is a bad guy.
