Always bugs me … how did he get it? The island is a healer. Did he have it before 815 crashed – or did it develop quickly after his replacement showed up?

This has always bugged me too. My only guess is that Ben developed the tumor off the island. You may remember Tom, Mr. Friendly, made a comment to about leaving and returning to the island every once in a while. But this doesn’t explain why the tumor didn’t disappear once Ben returned to the island. Who knows
He had the tumor before 815 crashed because Juliet recieved his x-rays while Goodwin was still around. Many theorize that he got the tumor becasue Sayid shot him as a little kid.

Ben got a tumor ‘cuz God hates baby snatchers. or something. also it gave the whole story the right to send Sawyer and Kate back to the losties camp.
