Kill Jacob, or “kill” Jacob?
It’s been mentioned a few times in a couple of different theories on here, that Jacob doesn’t actually exist, that he’s a made up character used by Richard and Ben to control the other “Others” or something of that nature. Well a thought occurred to me. While they were on their “pilgrimage” to go see Jacob, John told Ben that he was going to kill Jacob. John has never seen Jacob before, and he’s even been to the cabin. Instead, he’s been talking to Christian this whole time, getting advice from him and meeting him in strange places, like the bottom of the well and in the cabin in the the place of Jacob.
Well what if John realizes that Jacob isn’t real? He invited everyone to join him on his trip to the cabin for a reason, and it seems a little gruesome and out of character for him to do that so that they could all

did lock see jacob sitting in the chair the first time for a split second …or was that just us seeing him
Something did say ‘Help Me’ to John Locke. If not Jacob then who or what.
I think Hurley may have saw Jacob. (Am I right? I’m not sure.)
John has NEVER seen him, he just saw furniture moving and stuff in the cabin. I think John may not believe that Jacob really exists, you may be onto something with your theory. 🙂
John heard a wispered “Help me.” The cabin is just a place where the “island” has its chosen people or spirits or souls, and Locke knows it. He’s gonna prove to everyone there’s no Jocob, its all lies. Just a guess anyway.
Hi Krista! Thanks for your post–I said the same thing last week on another thread, and was shot down by a few people on the site. I think there’s a very distinct possibility that John knows the Jacob thing is a ruse, and he’s about to call them out on it! (Richard and Ben that is)
Well Jacob exists, we will see him in the next episode, but maybe Richard and Ben are using his name to succeed in their plans(of course without hearing Jacob telling them to do so).
I’m sure Ben never saw him, not sure if Richard did and probably Locke believes there is no such person and takes his people there to prove there is no Jacob.
krista, John Locke has not only heard Jacob, he has seen him! The pictures are floating around the internet.
I think it’s clear from Ben’s own statements that he never saw Jacob, and I would even question, if he has really ever heard him.
I formed that opinion from the episode, The Man Behind the Curtain.
Hurley did see an ‘eye’, but I am unsure if that ‘eye’ belonged to Jacob or Christian.
