Untapped talents.

Every member of the LOST team has a talent. Be it lying or fixing spines or talking to dead people. When is Miles’s talent going to become really really really useful? Maybe he’s going to talk to Dan and figure out how to set off the bomb? Wouldn’t that be fun.

  1. You’re right. We know Miles was recruited for his talents – they even tested him. I always thought it was so he could find the pit of dead Dharma and tell AA exactly what happened … but maybe …

  2. kate has no talents. except effin things up. and if you wanna be all higbrow about it, she has intimidation with her huge shoulders.

  3. Boone… Talent? You’ve got to be kidding, right? Or is that why he died so quickly? Some kind of weeding out process. You either get kidnapped because you are on Jacob’s list or you get killed off.

  4. Yeah I think Shannon or Boone either had no talents and therefore died off, or they died too soon for us to discover them. Of the people in recent episodes:

Jack: surgeon and also not a terrible leader/take-charge guy, has lost his way but at one time he was pretty good at it. he’s shown an ability to plan with the welfare of others in mind.

Sawyer: great liar, also a good but different leader than Jack, his best skill is probably observing and knowing who and what to take advantage of when, good at long term plans, but only recently has really shown a heart, but at the same time still retains an “everyone for themselves” attitude.

Kate: supposed to be good at a con game, but she’s lost her touch, does have a “survivor” mentality and has in the past at least helped other characters pull through, does have good instincts some times she can track and hunt, although she’s largely self interested.

Julia: obviously a doctor, her best talent is probably mediation, although we have seen her use that to the ends of manipulation in the past. She also speaks Latin, woohoo.

Miles: talking to dead people as well as a healthy sense of pessimism that sorta makes him Hurley’s balance, and helps him keep himself and others in check. He’s a logical thinker and natural problem solver who could be more useful than he has been.

Hurley: apparently he cooks a mean chicken salad sandwich, not only is he good for morale, but his paranoia and sense of wonder and curiousity probably helps keep the others more aware and more alert than they would otherwise be. While he has eating issues, he’s also probably the single most genuinely generous person on the show, not a bad dude to have around.

Jin: has a really strong survival instinct that we saw in his willingness to commit violent acts for Sun’s father, he is willing to do what others will not, but still has a moral high ground. He’s also an excellent fisherman and sushi chef and has an understanding about boats, and is generally really flexible about learning new skills.

Sayid: killer, tracker, strong man. he’s trying to have a heart but really he’s just a good guy to have your back. Also apparently has skills in construction and electronics, tracking, trap making and of course, torture. The resident well-trained ex-military man is everything you would expect.

Sun: she has shown an aptitude for herbalism and natural healing, and gardening. a little vindictive and crazy, but a great asset to any team nonetheless.

John: well, besides all of his vast knowledge of hunting, tracking, and wilderness survival, he’s also well versed in ancient history and culture, something apparently crucial to the show. he’s also obviously got some crazy supernatural connection with the island that enhances his knowledge.

Lapidus: I have a feeling we havn’t seen the end of the Captian. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders and at the least boy-scout or possibly ex-military knowledge of survival and warfare.

The absolutely most useless people on the island were those actors who got buried alive. Good riddence.
