Another Theory on Gods – Seth

I was looking into the different gods, an whilst we can mutter different opinions as to what god this may or may not be, it isn’t going to be easy to come to a conclusive decision on who the statue is of. After looking around, and for some reason my brother had collected some information files on egyptian mythology and i came across Seth. This particular paragraph took to my interest;

Seth was a complex God, full of contradictions – protective yet destructive, benevolent yet harmful, He had two completely different sides to his character and, consequently, he commanded both veneration and hostility.

What about if Jacob and this other individual are Seth’s split personality, the two complex’s fighting each other for what they believe is right. Another paragraph I came across details the vicious struggle with his nephew Horus for the rulership of the world. Say for example that Seth is both Jacob and Jacob (fighting over which complex to choose) and Horus is contained as the Smoke monster.

Seth is also depicted in human form with a head of a mythical animal and carries The Ankh. This also means that this description could fit one of Seth. Seth is also linked with many different animals include the crocodile and hippopotamus.

Hope this is something to go on, build on the theory, I know there are plenty of holes

    I also think you are right, that it may be a waste of valuable time attempting to tie down a particular name and meaning to the statue.

    This is creative style thinking!

    Thank-you!

  2. Thanks for replying. The more I look into this and try to understand more of the greater meaning behind the writers minds. Maybe using what you said we could come to the idea that the statue is maybe a meaning, a link, not a direct interpretation of what Jacob is, but what he could be. I think working along the lines that the two people on the beach are the same person seems logical. They don
