It’s strange to see that everytime a lostie had a difficulty he was there to say nice words but not doing anything to prevent or help what was happening. I guess maybe he is not dead and when the losties go back to the present they are going to remember him and help him in something.
ok if this were true and he did only save sayids life. (which he did) It’s not fair to say he is the bad guy because he didn’t save everyone.
This would be like telling a cop that just stopped a bank robery and 3 people were killed but the rest were saved by him that he is a bad guy because he didn’t save everyone.
lost4life, this has far more to do with whether or not Sayid was saved by Jacob, or spared so he could be utilized, and for what purpose.
If you analyze and weigh all of what you witnessed in the finale, involving many of the characters Jacob came into contact with, you may reach the conclusion that there could be an alternative reason/motive for what he did.
In terms of Lost, nothing is straight forward. It never has been, so why would it be that way now!
I would personally hate to watch a show, that was as lack lustre, as the statue is this ancient God….Jacob and his Nemesis are these biblical figures…..before the 6th season even started!
dabiatchishere, what did you mean by, “in order to break it down, you have to go back a bit in the show” any spots in general, the season finale? or just the series all together?
i agree with you to a point lost4life but if that cop had the oppurtunity to save those people im sure he would have. it’s pretty obvious that Jacob knew what was going to happen and im sorry but i think that it is pretty clear that he wanted to save Sayid and let Nadia die.
CJT Faraday, look at this past season, and see what has transpired, particularly with the ’06’, Ben, and Locke, Widmore and Christian. The ‘key players’, in other words.
Pay close attention to the conversation between Jacob and the people he touches, and his words to them.
See if you, can apply other meaning to those words, before you label Jacob, good, Nemesis, bad. There is a very fine line of distinction there, which if thought about, should challenge your current interpretation of what is good/bad.
The smoke monster, IMO is an entity unto its own. It has many ‘bodies’ it can take form in, and has.
Ask yourself, this question. In all of the many years, that Jacob and his Nemesis have been on that island, and if the smoke monster is the Nemesis, like everyone seems to think, why has it never killed Jacob before?
So what is your explanation then? Certainly there is an evil/good scenario here for those two, because they know the whole picture and they play their game with people. We all know that Nemesis can’t kill Jacob directly or at a certain time, he needed to find some kind of scenario to kill him. Why? We don’t know yet.
I will ask again. Why the Nemesis wants to kill Jacob if he is not the bad guy? Of course Lost is not simple and we still don’t know the answers but there are clues from the very 1st season of two sides (White/Dark). This was not just for fun. It is the biggest answer of the show.
I think Jacob knew his Nemesis will find a loophole and all this was about finding a plan to negate this.
And Jacob didn’t want to step in directly to their lives. He just wanted to give a little push which was insignificant. To Kate:”You won’t steal again after this aren’t you?”. Yet she goes on stealing. Even if they called her parents, I believe she would still go on stealing. To Jin and Sun: “Don’t take your love for granted” by a stranger. Nothing special life changer here. To Jack: “It just needed a little push”. Nothing special that will make Jack pushing for things.
Yet they are all significant to the story most probably.
i see no reason to think smokey and jacob’s nemesis are the same entity. i good give away is when fake locke was genuinely surprised that smokey told ben to follow locke. it would seem fake locke is not exactly connected to smokey as we think and that smokey doesn’t know about fake locke.
smokey seems to be a separate entity, and jacob and his nemesis (let’s call him esau) may just be guests on the island?
To play devil’s advocate…
Perhaps he is concerned with the ‘greater good?’
So, Nadia had to be sacrificed so that Sayid would follow a path which would lead him back to the island, to fulfill a greater purpose?
It’s strange to see that everytime a lostie had a difficulty he was there to say nice words but not doing anything to prevent or help what was happening. I guess maybe he is not dead and when the losties go back to the present they are going to remember him and help him in something.
Vicious, now you are thinking! These are the thoughts, I feel the writers mean for us to entertain and question.
Nobody should be making the assumption, that Jacob represents good or evil, and the same for his Nemesis.
In order to reach a better understanding, it is imperative that we dissect what it is we saw in the finale, and carefully weigh the pros and cons.
I have given some thought to this, and found that in order to break it down, you have to go back a bit in the show.
So, glad you posted this!

That is one lengthy loophole!
There is far more at play, than the obvious!
