The Egyptian Farce!!

i have been reading all these theories about what the Egyptian symbolism means on this show and it got me to thinking that maybe it’s all just a bunch of BS. Lost has ALWAYS been about the answer being right in front of you but so well hidden that you dont see it. sounds odd i know. but with all this Egyptian stuff it just seems to easy. i really feel at this point that Cuse and Lindelof are putting it in there to throw us off. i could be totally wrong but it doesnt feel right somehow. like i said before it is to easy and i think that they are putting it in there to throw us off. i mean look how much time people have spent researching all this Egyptian mythology. i think that it is just to distract us.

  1. Vicious, I am beginning to think, you are likely a true Lost fan!

I wholeheartedly concur! We, as viewers are locked into a big mystery, than in and of itself contains many smaller mysteries.

I do believe, that the answers will be logical, in the sense, that it will all come down to something which is straightforward.

I think that the mythology, bibliography and symbolism are important, but not where the answers to the entire show lies. They are ‘tools’ for us to use, in order to grasp the overall concept.

While, it is interesting to know who the statue is, I doubt that, that one piece of information will help solve any of the larger mysteries at hand.

  2. dabiatchishere: haha i am pretty obsessed with Lost that’s for sure. and i ever since i heard the Cuse and Lindelof say that they want us to think “wow the answer was right there in front of us the whole time how did i miss it!!” but how does one go about hiding the obvious? you cover it with a lot of BS!! hahaha. so im just trying to see past the potential BS.

highbrow: i think that i remember them talking about the amount of toes on the statue. they said that they originally wanted 6 but ABC didnt let them so they had to settle with 4.

and also i marked this to be put into the Theories section why did it end up in Fun?!

  3. Vicious, please call me dabs. You definitely are making the right connections! Keep up the good work! I look forward to hearing more from you, in future!

I know if it is a first post in a section, it has to be approved, but also the admin, was going to work on making it so you could only post in one section.

I don’t know which is the case, here!

  4. If I know Cuse and Lindelof it isn’t a red herrin. It has some significance, but not as much of a signficance as we would think.

Everything that was happened, all the iconography, settings, characters, ideaologies and binary opposition means something but the amount of times we see it and the importance it appears to have is not in any ratio to how significant it is to the actual overal narrative.

I.E something that has little emphasis put on it, may be quite significant. something that has a fair bit of emphasis put on it may be highly significant and something with a lot of emphasis may be important but nowhere near as significant as we think.

I truly think though that everything we see is important, don’t disregard a single fact. Especially with the last series coming up.

  5. Def think most of the egyption stuff is all just to lead everyone away from whats really happening….seems more biblical to me anyways

  6. When Ben and “Locke” enter into the statue, and Ben touches the tapestry, Jacob says something like:

“You like it?…..I did it myself. It takes a very long time when you’re making thread, but I suppose that’s the point, isn’t it?”

Plenty to read into for that statement, as I think it supports what you are saying, Vicious, as well as much more!

    🙂

  7. kimberly: hmm good catch on that quote. that could definitely be C and L saying to us “dont worry about the Egyptian stuff, we’re just messing with you” haha

Dabs: haha i feel apart of this site now that i know your nickname. what is the significance behind it?

  8. Lost is just so unique. i think i would be pretty upset if they used Egyptian mythology to explain it. i have faith that they will come up with something original that will blow our socks off. and if they dont heads will roll!! hahaha

  9. Vicious, back in Season 3, somebody asked if they could shorten it down, because it was too long to type. Voila, the name stuck!

Welcome to the site! haha lol
