A second look at “Ille qui nos omnes servabit”

Long-time lurker, first time posting.

This is more of an observation than anything else, and sorry if it’s already been posted. The answer to “What Lies in the shadow of the statue?” was given by Richard as “Ille qui nos omnes servabit.” It’s been written on Lostpedia and widely accepted that the translation is “He who will save/protect us all.” While this is an acceptable translation of the phrase there is also another.

servabit – 3rd person future tense of servo (protect/save) (he/she/it will)
ille – pronoun meaning “he/she/it”
qui – “who/which”
nos omnes – object of verb “all of us”

So, “He who will save/protect all of us” is one translation “That which will save/protect us all” is another one. So assuming that Richard was speaking about Jacob protecting them may still prove to be untrue. This may also mean that Jacob is not the “good” guy. Things in Lost never are exactly what they seem. Hope this spurs some good theories. I love to read them.
