who is Jacob? and other theories
After watching the last episode of the 5th series and finally seeing who jacob really is I think I finally know who he is and what “lost” is all about. Im not a religious person but I recall a man named jacob from the bible. I read through genesis where jacob is featured and there were a lot of things mentioned about him and his life which relate to lost. Firstly at the very beggining of the episode we see him on the beach with another man. This is his brother Esau. They hated each other in the

the statue jacob lives in is an egyptian god why would the christian god want a statue of that?
The Egyptian god Sobek was viewed by some as the creator and if one were trying to, one could draw the conclusion that Sobek was an animal representative of the Jewish God, the “creator,” since all of the Egyptian gods were not literal, but were symbols. Jacob, the story referenced above, is from the “Old Testament”, which is, in fact, a Jewish text.
Of course it might help if the statue was Sobek and not incorrectly named as Tawaret (I say incorrectly because Tawaret was always shown with a hippo head and usually in full pregnancy, being the goddess of fertility and what was on the island had what was quite clearly a corcodile head and didn’t look pregnant at all…in fact, it looked like a man…but ABC and JJ say Tawaret, so that’s what we go with…)
The Bilble never says that Jacob and Esau hate each other. Jacob did his father Issac in to thinking he was Esau and he also deceived Esau out of his birth right which infuriated Esau. BUt never did Esau hunt him or try to kill him. Esau later found his brother as Jacob was returning home and welcomed him with open arms. I do see a lot of biblical references in Lost but too many people are distorting the Bible to make a connection between Jacob and the man in black.
Another thought or theory buster is That people are posting that Jacob is the light or good and Esau is the dark or bad. There is no biblical nor theology scripture that depicts Esau the son of Issac as being a bad person or not favored in God’s eyes. Just thought I’d point that out to help people did deeper into thier theories.
I hate typos, and I meant to type Bible ont bilble
