The consequence of Aaron not returning

After a little discussion between myself and Marting on his theory ‘Lampost revealed’ I looked back to season 5 episode 2 where Ben is talking to Eloise when she tells him he has 70 hours to get the losties back to the Island. Something struck me when Ben says “what if I can’t get them all to come back?” Eloise replies “then god help us all”.

What if Locke was meant to be resurrected actually as himself? to lead the others and this would have helped to break the loop? The consequence of Aaron not returning is that Bob is able to take the form of Locke? as the outcome as mentioned by Eloise is that the future would be unpredictable.

What if the the losties weren’t meant to jump back to the 70’s and were just meant to return to the Island in the present time period? They were meant to break the loop but by not returning with a full compliment they started the loop again? If they never jumped back in time then maybe Jacob wouldn’t have been stabbed by Ben. None of the Losties would have let Ben stab him. Also Bob seems very concerned when jacobs last words are “they’re coming” are Jack, Kate etc the reverse riders of the apocalypse? lol

Just something that sort of clicked in my head and i dont think that this is close to the plot line, but what did Eloise really mean by “then god help us all”? any ideas as to that potential outcome?

Wasn’t sure whether to place this in Theories (as it is kind of weak for that section), Questions as it does raise …..erm….. questions or Fun section as it is a little far fetched but hey we have nothing else to do for a while so indulge and have fun ripping it apart 🙂

  1. Lost is famous for quotes of this nature. Remember when Juliet told Sayid “If I told you everything I know, you’d kill me”. Well I still haven’t seen anything that she knew that would have caused Sayid to kill her, and I think that storyline is pretty much over.

  2. It’s an interesting possibility. This brings up an idea: What if “bob” used the term loophole exactly because it is not juns a common breach, but a breach through the time “loop” that was supposed to have all the losties together in one single place? I don’t like the time loop idea, but if it turns out to be right, I thing the term loophole is interestingly adequate and gains important new meaning.

  3. Aaron was never supposed to be on the plane cause he wasnt born when 815 crashed. “God help us all” meant that losties HAD to go back cause if they didnt then the present that we saw Eloise and Ben and everyone else would not exist

  4. you know whats been bugging me the most is why hugo’s dad told jack to stay away from hugo.why hugo’s dad was surprised when hugo turned up at his house and asked him why he aint in the nut house, and not why he’s got an unconscious arab with him.seems to me that hugo’s dad would be happier with hugo in the nut house…..hmmmmm i wonder why?

  5. BanLinus i am 1 of those people who dislike theories based upon a single piece of script, although some good questions and topics do tend to spring up out of the most obscure comments, it just sprung out at me. Maybe im reaching and trying to connect a-z without going through all the other letters first. What you say however is 1 of the most frustrating things about Lost is there are so many questions and now even less time for them to be answered 🙁

Darkness i see what your saying but Desmond never returned (yet) either. Frank wasn’t on 815 although he was supposed to fly Oceanic 815 that day, however he returned with the rest of them.

  6. what if Aaron does return? in season 6 with like Walt and Desmond.

I have a problem with this whole time loop thing, cuz Lindelof and Cuse said in a commentary. its impossible to change the distant future, but its possible to change the near future. So regarding this whole bomb blowing up, people going back in time, jack not supposed to leave, Ben turning the frozen donkey wheel instead of Locke, Aaron not going back to the island. Time, correcting itself, would go back to the first initial mistake, and Aaron would go back to the island or he would just stay on the island because time would correct the O6 from ever leaving.

Just a random note: I see the sixth season starting with Juliet blowing up the bomb and everything rewinding to the whole “SS Not Penny’s Boat” debacle and correcting the mistake of Jack leaving the island. I hate the Idea of Jack waking up on the island again, or the plane landing safely in LA. Something cooler needs to happen, or something that we haven’t seen.

So what we have seen in season 5 could’ve been what would happen if Aaron didn’t go back. And hopefully he will go back, he’s just been played as such an important character in the story. If nothing happens with him I’ll be slightly disappointed, but at the same time I’m sure the writers will find a really awesome way of just tying up that and many more loose ends.

  7. Well, BigD, I have been preaching this for months now.

If you get a chance, please read my “Children are the future” post from a while back.

  8. It has crossed my mind that Claire told Kate not to bring Aaron back to the island because maybe in some way…Aaron is the last hope. If all else fails this time around–they always have Aaron to come back and finish the job. Still thinking about this…just wanted to toss it out there.

  9. Lostonlost, uve just brought up an excellent point.

If Bob has taken the form of Christian and convinced Claire that he is the ‘good side’ then he could have convinced her to tell Kate not to bring Aaron back to the Island. Is this why Claire said don’t you dare bring him back? She has been misguided by Bob? After all Claire knows that Christian is her father and maybe she feels she can trust him that he’s telling the truth?

Lostonlost im going to put this in the theories and questions section but will give you full credit 🙂

  10. i think the god help us all from eloise about everyone not returning is that she knew from her past that they had to be there…she knew all the people that were in the 70’s and were involved in the incident…and if they werent all there then that wouldnt have happened
