Hmmm. I think what you saw is not a teaser trailer but probably a fan made trailer. Often times fans will make teaser trailers using past scenes from other episodes and seasons.
If so, It looks to me like it’s Kate’s eye..not Jack’s. Also I don’t notice the Palm Trees in the eye..I see what appears to be someone’s face…maybe Hurley’s. It’s hard to say. It wouldn’t make sense for it to be Kate’s eye and Jack’s eye makes a lot more sense with your theory (and other theories on this site).
What I’m talking about is what they showed us after the season finale when they were first started promoting the final season. It said something like “Final Season Coming 2010, Destiny’s Calling,” or something like that, and then they showed you someone opening up their eye. I think it’s on Lostpedia. Or it’s on youtube, here’s the link.
Another thought that i didn’t think is maybe they were just showing us Jack’s first eye opening scene again just to get us excited about the last season, but I’m not sure.

Shit, I’m just hoping it’s Juliet’s I just want her to be alive – I sooo love her.. Though, being named after a heroine made mostly famous for her tragic death – I fear it’s unlikely – or is it..;)
I read your post earlier, and rewatched the preview. (I watched it from the ABC finale I saved on my Tivo.) I saw the palm tree. I’m going to watch the pilot again, and check it out.
Strange. I paused it when the eye was closed at it looked like Jacks, then when it was open it looked more like Kate’s. Probably nothing, just looked that way to me.
If it is Kate’s, remember how at the start of the series they originally planned on killing Jack after the first episode and setting Kate as the ‘leader’? If time did reset, maybe it’s her waking up in the jungle in Jack’s place after the explosion.

lost23, there is much symbology linked with the image of the ‘eye’, all linking to the eye as a metaphor for the source of creation, God, Eye of God.
There are endless scenarios and symbolism pertaining to the ‘eye’. The above is only one of them.
