Expaning on my last theory, well changing completely rather than expanding, i think that Jacob and Nemeis are the same. Just different versions. One that is evil and dark, one that is light and good. One that had Claires up bringing so has her goodness in him, who eventually becomes Jacob. One that doesnt, who is brought up by another, who becomes evil, like the nemesis. nemesis wants jacob dead so he becomes the main perosn in charge of the island and not jacob. To explain this, think about the film Fight Club. Tyler Durden wants to become the main personality and take over his body. The island can manifest personality or spirits into a body like ekos brother, christian, charlie, ana lucia etc etc, so has done the same to Jacob/ Nemesis
Ok, i wrote this in 5 minutes having just thought about it, but principly, what do you think??

This thought has occurred to me to and I am currently working on something that may explain how this could be.
Dharma-Spy, I have also considered what you pose, but have not been able to reconcile it as yet.

Ok, you had me until you got to Fight Club…one of my all time favorite books…but I get the idea…
I think this has real potential, just needs a slightly different context to get to the meat of the theory.
I dont think its going to be as psychological as fight club is, but more based on the abilities and properties of the island.
I picture John being the medium for the two possibly. Johns speech in the pilot to Walt. The dream Claire has with him sitting with almost opposite sides to him. Then theres the simple thought that there are two Johns techncally on the island right now.
If this were to hold true, I think John would have to in some way be the key.

Kind of like a ying yang one half dark one half light but put together they made one perfect circle. Maybe something happened that caused them to split in the past. I’m not really sure on this idea but I thought I would throw in a few thoughts it’s good to see some new ideas coming up on the site. I like to think that they are different people but connected somehow and 1 always needs the other now that Jacob is dead (?) something big is gonna happen to mob

i think this is a very interesting thought. however, but its only my opinioun, i dont think jacob has been a good/light person as you suggest. and i also think jacobs “nemisis” (again, i think this word is a bit strong) is perhaps the good one, as jacob goes about letting sayid wife get killed etc, maybe the nemisis wants this way to stop. its not the right way to bring people to the island?
however, i have spoken with a few about the possibiliy that jacob has no poignant feelings towards death and its conseqences, perhaps he doesnt have have moral bone, not on purpose, but you know….

Achalli, yes it would apply. I would like to see if we could take all of these wonderful ideas which have been expressed and formulate a solid theory out of them, as I believe they all have merit, in their own right.
Dabs I hope to be able to do that with the Egyptian soul. The main hurdle I’m having with it is that there’s a lot of overlap that I see, but then life is like that anyways.
that is a similar theory as to the story line in the Matrix as Neo and Smith were virtually the same person/entity.
