All is not as it seems…..

Not so much a theory but more of a what if so bear with me.

It seems to me that the moment Juliet hits the bomb we are lulled into the false enticement that Jughead has exploded. Im more into actually thinking that it could possibly be another time skip for the losties.

I dont think anybody will be landing at LAX but i think the losties will be going to the point in time when Flocke has just manipulated Ben into killing Jacob, hence the line “Their Coming”.

I think walt, Aaron and clair will play a key role this season even if they are not to star in many episodes because their charecters are far to important to leave out.

If the writers have taught us anything it is not to take anything for granted.

For me locke is dead and has been resurected by some force on the island but im not sure that he is evil, i get this strange vibe about jacob and i think there coukd be a twist in there which shows us that this guy is not as white as the clothes he wears.

MIB on the other hand is purposely cast as evil by wearing black but this i think is just a ploy to put us off track.

One last thought….The bodies in the cave i reckon are the remains of Jacob and MIB hence the white and black stones just seems to obvious to be bernard and rose or jack and kate. Jacob and MIB therefore take on the forms of others who are on or who have died on the island as even though their bodies are dead their consciousness lives on.

Go easy its my first post thanks guys.

  1. you know what? I don’t ever remember it being confirmed that one of the bodies in the cave was a woman….they just got deemed “Adam and Eve”. I really like the thought that it could possibly be MIB and Jacob. And I’m damn near positive no one on this site has thought that up before…

  2. **confirm on laurencake

you can tell my the size/shape of a human pelvis to determine if that person was male or female.

He says it is one male and one female. I do not think this is Rose and Bernard because the bodies were not that close together when found. Seemed as though they slept in different spots.

  3. Yeah thats all cool but i think your missing my point. At what point have we been told that MIB is a male? All we know is that he shape shifts as possibly Jacob does.
If we are to believe that MIB can shape shift, is it not possible that MIB can be or was a woman?
On several occasions i believe that MIB has taken the form of a female, In the jungle taking the form of Juliettes counciller and also taking the form of alex.
MIB is a great manipulator and in my experience women can teach men a few things about manipulation.
I just think we are Naive to not consider the possibility, i never mentioned in my original post that the skeleton wasnt a female.

  4. Whoa, hold up, why are we assuming MIB can shapeshift. They haven’t shown anyone shapeshift in the show, the closest thing we get is smokie transforming into an apparition of a dead person. The important word is apparition not walking talking corpse. We have no idea on anything about MIB at all apart from that he and Jacob seem to be in disagreement about a ship coming to the island. Lost is a sci-fi show not a tale of the body snatchers horror fantasy. And the comment about MIB being female because he is manipulative – what has he manipulated exactly? It’s frustrating when people take small parts of what we see, build up a complete story behind them and accept it as part of the show rather than realising that anything taken out of context can be made into anything. I’ve had conversations like MIB and Jacob with my husband, doesn’t mean I actually want to kill him or that I’m his nemesis, just a disagreement, maybe they are having a gay lovers tiff? 😉

  5. Tas….Not sure about the gay lovers tiff to be honest!! 🙂 Im only taking this small part of the show as i dont believe in any posts ive read the possibility has been explored thats all, im not building up a complete story line about it. We know that MIB takes the form of others and to me that is shapeshifting in no uncertain terms. I was just using some light humour in respect to the comments about manipulation and being a woman and in no way was that meant to be derogatory. I could comment on a whole host of other stuff but the fact is 99% of what id like to say has already been thought of or explained. Like i said at the beginning it was just a thought.
As for body snatching that has never been mentioned by myself so im lost as to the meaning of that.
However i do accept the constructive criticism and will try to improve on my next post.:(

  6. Tas, you write that “the closest thing we get is smokie transforming into an apparition of a dead person. The important word is apparition not walking talking corpse.”

At least “Alex” was walking and talking and touching Ben quite violently (in S05E12). And to me it seems reasonable to conclude that “Alex” was in fact Smokey. Do you agree?

Whether a corpse is needed and where the corpse came from is a separate issue.

  7. ostin, I totally agree with you. I do think the explosion is a time skip, I don’t think it’s a different time line/reset… only because I like being a one-time-line-guy.

I hope Clair and Christian and Arron come back, this whole family affair thing HAS to mean something.

I also agree with you about Jacob. The overwhelming opinion seems to be that Jacob is “good” but I honestly cannot think of anything good that he has done. He tricks people into coming to his island so he can play army men with their lives, sends out orders that seem pretty terrible. He seems more like a Greek demi-god than anything else to me… and unlike Christianity, most pagan religions did NOT fall into strict good and evil categories. Gods in Greek mythology especially are very much like humans and are ambiguous at best in their intentions. This is largely because they were personifications of forces of nature that do not follow any code of good or evil. I’ve got a theory about all of this I’m gonna post soon I think.

  8. I think your title says it all. We are led to believe that Locke is this guy Nemesis. But maybe its not as it seems. We are led to believe Jacob is something higher in form than a human. But maybe its not as it seems. I said this on another post. What makes more sense. That Locke is this man in black who has somehow shape shifted, or its just John Locke. After all, time travel has already been introduced.

  9. “We know that MIB takes the form of others and to me that is shapeshifting in no uncertain terms.” No we don’t, that’s my point. I agree with your thoughts on MIB and Jacob not being bad and or good because of the colour of their clothes, but we can’t make assumptions about who or what MIB, Jacob, Smokie and the new Locke are because we’ve been shown so little and mostly decontextualised. You can’t say we’ve been shown MIB shapeshifting because of one line between Locke and Jacob, there are other plausible explanations for that which don’t involve Locke being taken over (that’s what I mean by body snatching) by MIB or Smokie, we don’t even know that they are necessarily aligned. Smokie may well be a tool able to be used by anyone or there may be three entities with agendas working on the island. We don’t know, so great come up with heaps of theories, people can agree and disagree as they choose, I’m just saying don’t use something as fact or truth when it may not be.

@ilie… Yes Alex wasn’t a non-physical presence, but it was also a very quick, emotional burst of energy (not sure how to quite say what I mean) Locke being in that same form for such a long period of time doesn’t match how those appearances have been used through the show. And if you don’t need a body (all the other bodies had gone) then anyone could be MIB and how could you keep track of who’s who and what’s going on. Using this same argument, couldn’t MIB have appeared to look like Jacob when touching the Losties, or maybe he is Hawking… it goes on and on if you say that Locke of season 5 is just MIB somehow.

  10. I think we assume Jacob is a good guy because he always says they have choice and during The Conversation Jacob is the one talking about progress not “They come, they fight they corrupt.” That doesn’t mean Jacob is a good guy. I had my own misgivings about it until he didn’t put up a fight when Ben stabbed him.

  11. Roland, I think that whole scene was an act. I mean, Jacob thus far has been shown as an omniscent, omnipotent guy who can time travel in enlist the help of people and change the course of their lives. Him letting Ben stab him and get burned up looked more symbolic and ritualistic than anything else. After all, he had Ilana and crew there as a backup… so he knew all of this was going down all along. He doesn’t act surprised, he just tells Ben that he has a choice. Ben’s choice wasn’t about Jacob’s destiny, it was about BEN’S destiny, about one last chance for Ben to redeem himself and choose a higher path, if you will. And that doesn’t matter if Jacob is “good” or “evil” or some ambiguous symbolic personification of something. It’s still cold-blooded murder.

  12. Tas, of course I have no idea whether Smokey needs a corpse to do its trick, but from what we have seen throughout the series it certainly seems quite likely. In case of Locke, alternative time lines or time travels could then explain why there are two Locke bodies on the island simultaneously. And if Smokey needs a (newly deceased?) corpse, then I suppose it is no surprise that the corpse can interact physically with living people.

  13. ilie… also we can maybe assume thats why miles being able to take instructions from the dead on how theey died could be a way of letting us know if a corpse has been obtained then we can also presume the conciousness remains.

  14. TheChosenOne1, yes, it seems that the memories hang around for a while in the brains of the dead. So Smokey can just power up the dead body with some electomagnetic magic and use whatever information is still available in the brains. So it seems that Smokey can scan the brains of both living and dead people, but only fully control brains of dead people.
