Ben goes to say good-bye. The others have a sailing off to sea ritual. Where’s her body? I’m sure he didn’t leave it for Smokey.

I think the only way for smokey (un locke) to body shift is have the body above ground. Locke was above ground, christian was above ground, claire might be, yemi was above ground, ect……..
It’s been confirmed by TPTB on the 5/21/08 podcast that SOME of the versions of Walt on the island were manifestations of the smoke monster.
Because Walt wasn’t dead – the smoke monster might have had complications in manifesting him. Maybe that’s why when Shannon (and eventually Sayid) saw him – he was speaking backwards. It was that version of Walt that lead Shannon to her death…
Is Walt the only person who Smokey manifested that was alive at the time? Was he only able to do it because Walt is “special”?
Charlie was “buried” at sea – which is probably sufficient. When Hurley saw him back in the real world – wasn’t that just because he can see dead people? I didn’t think that was supposed to be the monster.

Not quite so sure. What about Walt. Charlie.

Ben didn’t have time to bury Alex, right?
No, but he might have had enough time to bring her body somewhere near where he releases Smokey …
