Showing Locke’s body to Richard

Bram says to Lapidus that they “need to show someone” Locke’s body so that “they’ll know what they’re up against”.

Ilana says that “he hasn’t been here for a very long time”, referring to the cabin. When they get to the beach they ask for Richard (Ricardus).

Jacob had asked Ilana to do him a favor, she agrees. Maybe Jacob asked Ilana to show Richard the body of Locke so that Richard will know what he is up against (FLocke). Jacob told Ilana to find Richard at the cabin, and when they arrive Ilana says that he (Richard) hasn’t been there for a long time?

Started watching Lost in September 2009; finished Seasons 1-5 in 20 days.. my wife was not thrilled during this time. I am a believer in John Locke and that he may somehow still play a key (and good) role on the island.

  1. 3 years may be a long time? (or … and remember the flashes now, either 815 OR 316 didn’t arrive on island 2004/7 respectively)

If MIB is confined there, how would he always know where to find Jacob? (access him implied) And, how could he be Smokie?

  2. True, bringing Sayid back to the island might have been “the favor”. We have to assume, for argument’s sake, that everything Ilana did/is doing is at the behest of Jacob, and therefore in his interest.

Also, Christian telling Locke in the Wheel Chamber that he must bring everyone that left back (“and I mean all of them”) implies that both Jacob and Christian are interested in their return(s).

  3. I believe Ilana wanted to show Richard Locke’s body to show him what he was up against, but I’ve always believed it was MIB trapped in the cabin, he was the ghost that said “help me” to Locke.. They were going to the cabin hoping MIB was still trapped in there. I don’t think they realized Flocke was actually MIB until they found Richard and the Others, they probably still don’t know.. actually we don’t either.. I’m open to believing any other theories anybody else about this..

  4. Eko: I was saying

(jokingly) 3 years is a long time.

OR, the planes (particularly 815) arrived in a flash consistant w/a time jump. What if they arrived in, say 3004 and not 2004, but they all think it’s still 2004. THAT would constitute a long time.

Finally, I don’t understand how MIB can be trapped in a cabin AND Smokie, unless we’re doing alternate simultaneous timelines.

  5. I don’t really believe they were going to the cabin to see/find Nemesis. Ilana/Bram never make any statement that indicate their intention to intervene in anything, only to show Locke’s body to whomever (presumably Richard). After all, if their plan was anything but showing Locke’s body to whomever, they wouldn’t have wasted time and energy lugging the Ajira crate along with them.
