In a nutshell….

I’ll try to make this quick, as it’s not all completely original anyway. Jacob and MIB are from the future, and both know exactly when life becomes extinct on this planet. Jacob has been trying to change the future through the use of a variable in the past. His motive: incorporate a variable in order to save humanity in the future. MIB hates life I guess, and wants it all to end. So he uses Ben as a variable to kill Jacob, to end Jacob’s journey.
My theory (as well as a few others): The writers indirectly hinted to us that Juliette might be the only one that wasn’t ever visited by Jacob. Therefore, Jacob didn’t nudge her in any direction like he nudged everyone else around her, therefore allowing a variable to exist within the beginning of a potential loop. She ends the loop before it starts by detonating the bomb. Well done Jacob. It’s funny that Jacob and MIB both accomplished their long awaited goals at exactly the same time (even though they were 30 years apart), Juliette with the bomb, Ben with the knife through Jacob.
It just makes no sense to me that the writers of this show would expect us to be interested in a finale that didn’t involve the saving of humanity, or something very similar. We’re not going to care who lives or dies really by that time. Some of you ladies might cry if Sawyer or Jack dies, and I might too actually, but a few deaths wont be that important in the grand scheme of things. This “theory” is probably all false though, and I know it. The writers will probably add 79 more new characters this last season just to throw us all off and add more confusion to the show. But, this all makes sense to me at this point.

So......I guess LOST was a good show.....WAS a good show.

  1. I don’t know if the theories right or not but I do think all the Losties are going to be given a choice whether to sacrifice themselves for the betterment of humanity. And if it is told well I will shed a tear or two. I think everyone on this site is pretty attached to the characters.

  2. Chiefof16, I think you are onto something with the ’30 years’ apart not being part of a coincidence.

There was a similar occurrence with the ariel photo taken by the US Army, that Ms. Hawking shows to Jack. It was dated 50 years and one day from the crash of #815.

I also feel that Juliette was brought to ‘the island’ by deceptive means to fulfill ‘her’ purpose.

The ‘sacrifice’ is also in keeping with the story.

I will be upset if they kill Hurley off, and am silently rooting for Ben to be redeemed.

    Nice post!

  3. Thanks Dabs. I forgot all about the 50 year difference with the Army and the Losties. Weird. I’m almost sick of thinking about all the coincidences in this show, as it gives me a headache

  4. You might be very right about that., AES. I was thinking in terms of ‘Jughead’. That seems to be an event that ‘links’ up with what happens in future.

  5. lol I know what you mean, Chiefof16.

PS: If you have any further thoughts pertaining to the Hanso/Island, I’d really like to hear them.

Once again, some very good points.

  6. yaaaay Chiefof16’s back!!

I have nothing to contribute right now except that…i got excited to see you on here and had to tell. i will be back later when i’m not preoccupied with trying to look busy at work.

  7. Awesome Bailey, I’m glad to see you’re still a part of this crazy, crazy site as well. It’s funny watching everyone (including myself) do all we can to squeeze out a theory this late in this 7 month LOST break. I’m more than ready for some new material!
