The Barracks Video
I just watched “The Man Behind the Curtain” again last night and I noticed something that I didn’t notice before…
When Ben and Roger arrive on the island, the camera focuses on a bald black man and then on an older partially bald white man with white hair and beard. Roger and Ben have a scene with Horace and then they all proceed into the processing center. This is where we see the Barracks video playing for the first time…
In the video Chang is speaking and there are two men walking behind him. They are the same two men that just arrived with Ben and Roger that day. So, if they just arrived on the island, as new recruits, how are these two men in the Barracks video being shown on the same day that they both arrive on the island?
Also, while Ben is still in the processing center speaking with Annie, you can see both men in the same shot behind them… One man is just standing there, looks like he’s looking up at the video while waiting, and the other man is talking with a Dharma member… So, it does appear that they are new recruits…
I just went over to Lostpedia to see if there was anything about this over there. All it says is that these two men are seen arriving on the island the same day as Ben and Roger, and they are later seen in the Barracks video during the episode “Namaste.” But, there is no mention of them being shown in the Barracks video during the episode “The Man Behind the Curtain,” So, Lostpedia didn’t catch it either.
Wow. Good eye! Maybe just a case of a lack of extras?
ScrollLocke, Could be… But, I just think it’s weird that on the same day they are seen arriving, bam! in the very next scene there they are in a DHARMA video… I really find it hard to believe that they didn’t have two other people available to put in the video. Or, if that was the case then why bring attention to the two men arriving with Ben and Roger? Seems it was done on purpose! But, why I don’t know.
