The Island is a spaceship.
Hey guys, I figured it out. Do not read if you do not want LOST to be spoiled.
Inside the island is a spaceship. And I have the proof to support my theory. I was going back and watching all seasons to catch up for Season 6 and only one thing fits. It’s a friggin spaceship!
I first got the idea of it being a spaceship back in season 1, very early on, like in the first or second episode. (The director’s themselves said that a very important clue as to what LOST was about was in those episodes.) Let’s recall Hugo on a plane reading a comic book. And that book was in spanish. On the pages inside of that book there was a polar bear. Then what did we eventually see? A polar bear! What else did we see in the book? We saw an alien spaceship landing in the ocean. It’s a giant bubble looking type of craft landing in water. That’s what gave me the idea. Then when he turned the page, there was an alien on a table with I.V.’s in like a medical room being tested or something. Much like the rooms where in later seasons were used with clair and other type of experiments.
So I realize that may sound kind of see through, or an unlikely possibility right? Well continuing on, we know that the island jumps around and requires very complex math to figure out the location of it as it jumps around. We know that the island can jump through time, but I also believe that it is a reset. There’s a lot of mentions about change. And the Oroboros theory fits even better with this theory because you’ll notice a lot of subtle change in things like in the episode 2×11 – The hunting party when Hurley and Charley are in the hatch looking at the records, and they have no idea who Geronimo Jackson is or any other music that is there. I think that it is remnants of music that came from an alternate reality that may no longer exist due to time resetting and having different outcomes. This could be caused by very advanced technology. Okay, i realize that is kind of a stretch, but the next two ideas i’ve noticed so far aren’t so much.
Remember the french chick? In season one when she was explaining to Sayid what the monster was? And she said it was definitely a security system for something. A spaceship IMO. Also later, or should I say in the past, when Benjamin Linus gets shot and was going to die, was brought into the temple that the system protects and is miraculously cured. What but alien technology could do that?
Last but not least, and keep in mind I’ve only found this evidence as far as half way up to Season 2 mostly. That’s where I’m at in catching up. We see many references to Egyptians like later on in the series where Jack is erasing the chalk board with a history lesson about Ancient Egyptians. Many people believed that the ancient pyramids were built by aliens because there was no way it could have been built by man. Richard looks like an Egyptian with his eye shadow and I believe he’s gotten in with the Aliens for his immortality or is one himself.
I believe it is a spaceship, and if you have anymore references that would support this, please reply.

It would be kind of cheesy, but it does kinda make sense. I can’t recall if the show runners have come out and said its not a spaceship. Don’t worry about spoiling anyone though, because this theory has been around since the beginning.
I will say that if we do find out this it would be at the very ending. And that the last shot would be the spaceship heading off into space and self destructing with most of our losties on board.
ofcourse your theory makes sense and lots of people around have tought the island is a spaceship. If this is the answer for all of the questions, it would be just too easy and cliche, and will be a great disappointment.. and this theory really likes the show Stargate..
This of course would be a theory for the very end of the show. It doesn’t really explain all of the relationships throughout the show though. I think it a very real possibility for a last episode type deal. And unfortunately most shows end with a little disappointment. But it’s all this foreshadowing that makes them great.
Another interesting fact is that I believe Walt knows about it all as he read the comic book before the polar bear showed up. Also Benjamin Linus says that Walt is a very special boy because he knows things. I think Walt keeps watching it all play out and knows what’s going to happen. It would explain why the producers haven’t shown him very much lately because for a realistic show he would have to at some point divulge this information spoiling the plot. She he gets a free ticket off of the island. I believe he will show up again in season 6 when more is revealed.
There’s some connection with Hurley and the comic book though as he was the one who had it and it’s in spanish.
Theres no way man could have built the pyramids. Are you for real. Every hear of archeology.
Maybe the aliens in the comic book were methaphorical?? Like the 815’ers are “alien” to the island, newbies who don’t belong/don’t know anything about the island….
hey bailey i like that idea 🙂 ive always wondered what that comic had to do with the show but thought it was somehow related to the Apollo bars
Nice perspective, Bailey!
😉
Cute puppy by the way…
yah – this idea has been around and around again – but it could work and not be cliche terrible story telling as long as the “aliens” are human beings from the future who are “alien” to the past.
Had a theory from way back when that a spaceship from the future crashes into the ocean before the island exists. The crash causes the first time flash and an underwater volcano to start erupting. It flashes the ship to a future time after the island has been formed but it merges the ship with the island because they are sharing the same physical space. Because the ship had time traveling capabilities, the island now has time traveling capabilities.
i really hope its not a bloody spaceship
Thanks for writing something that kept my interest throughout. It’s good to see a good old fashioned theory again.
If this is true though, I’m gonna blow my face off with a shotgun. No way in hell I spent so many years bending my mind around this show only to find out the island is a damn spaceship.
…..and the only hint from the writers that it’s a spaceship was from a children’s comic book printed in Spanish, that we haven’t seen since the 3rd episode of the series or so. LOL. Sorry man, that’ll be the day.
……if you’re right though, you win at life. I’ll crown you King of Life for risking so much on a theory.
i freaking love the thought of it being an spaceship. and if the island ends up flying away up into space in the final episode, it would all be worth it. For reals.
Except when i read about that 28 yr old kid in the states that blew his face off. That’ll be a bit of a downer.
lol…
The scary part is…if it happened, it wouldnt be the strangest thing to happen on Lost
When Ben went under the temple to be judged my first thought was “LOST has gone all Indiana Jones on us!” – and then I thought, “OH CRAP. I hope this doesn’t mean the island is a spaceship and it flies away at the end like in the Crystal Skull.”
ScrollLocke, I have never been happier to have a spoiler give away a movie I have not seen…thank you for saving me two hours of my life…
Usually the answer to the mysteries are right in front you. The only way the writers can write something so intriging would be to do something that is easy but make you feel like it is something more to it. Also it is very often that the end of a series reflects what was in the beginning episodes. In season 3 the plot changes and takes some very different angles to try and lead viewers away from the simple truth. It’s a lost spaceship.
Ugh! ScrollLocke that was the worst ending ever was it not??!! I love me some Indiana Jones but that was awful. just awful.
honestly Nikitis, brush off the ol’ king of life acceptance speech. you may need it.
LMAO, don’t worry about my bloodied, unrecognizable face. I’ll gladly take one for the team. At least we’d all get to see one of the most freakish endings of any quality TV show, ever. Even if it’s the last thing I see 🙁
Good point on the Indiana Jones ending. Not sure the creators would end this show the same way a VERY popular franchise ended it’s latest movie. Like A.E.S said though, LOST is full of some crazy crazy ideas.
Something about this thread is hilarious and I’m extremely pleased that it started.
Let me go ahead and spoil the first X-Files movie which also had a gigantic spaceship fly away mere minutes after Mulder rescues Scully from that very same spaceship that was previously buried in the ground.
Just had a hilarious idea. Adam and Eve = Mulder and Scully. HAHAHA. Ok, I might be the only one that finds that funny.
Well I never said that the spaceship will fly away like in the Indiana Movies or X-Files movie. I just said it’s a spaceship. Hopefully the writers will do something unique with the spaceship rather than just have it fly away. Like maybe blow up and the universe implodes much in the same way the hatch imploded. That would be unique. It would certainly answer the first question about the show. What does LOST refer to? Pretty much everything lol.
I’m sorry but I’m with chief. Apart from the comic, there have been no references to aliens or spaceships so if the island starts flying away (to a non-lost fan that would sound so funny!) or whatever else it can do, then i would feel like Ive wasted six years of my life watching a show with a completely random ending!
I’d be disappointed (sorry to all spaceship shippers)
Scrollocke – your last comment has tickled me!
