How Smokie/MIB will get back ‘home’
I would first like to say this theory is based off of FairerDay’s theory of Flacob
Considering that the translator for the Temple leader told Hugo that they werent trying to keep the Losties in, they were trying to keep Smokie out, I would assume that the Temple was Smokie’s home or where he wants to ‘get back’.
Of course the translator asks when Jacob is coming to the Temple, and Hugo tells him that Jacob is dead. But this is how Smokie is going to get back, he will form the body of Jacob.
There are holes in this however, that the Other’s know that Jacob is dead, so how could he walk into the Temple? I don’t know, but how else could he get back? Either Flocke could walk in and tell him that he is the leader of the Other’s, or MIB/Smokie could walk/fly in and overpower them.
I do not believe that the Temple is where MIB wants to get back though, fully. I think that by ‘home’, he means his true form. And by this, I think he wants to walk into the spring and using it’s powers he will become the true MIB again.

Have you considered the possibility that smokey/MIB already posed as Jacob? Here’s a theory off of your idea – Smokey appears to Hugo as Jacob, tells him that he must take Saeed back to the temple to save him. Smokey knows that they will try to revive Sayed in the fountain of life – however – we know the water was not pure. So… it was a trick. The only way smokey could get into the temple was by resurrecting in Sayed via the fountain which is no longer pure. The resurrected Sayed is really smokey. He is already in the temple. They hippy and mr. miyagi are busy surrounding the temple with gun powder to keep smokey out. Smokey’s already in. Trojan Horse!
Anyway, your post triggered this thought for me.
How can we assume that Jacob or MIB can take the form of someone who dies on the island? We have no evidence of them doing it before at all. We know that Lock is MIB, but he only took Locke’s skin after he arrived back on the island already deceased, just like Christian and Yemi. That seems to me to be of critical importance. Why go to all the trouble of setting up these complex loophole-rules and then break them so easily?
I mentioned in the theory that I did not believe that the Jacob that talked to Hugo was actually MIB, because Jin couldn’t see him yet Hugo could see and speak to him.
I like the thought of Sayid being Smokie though. That could happen!
But smokie is Locke and carrying Richard off into the jungle, how could he be Sayid

This is a really interesting idea, but this would have to mean that MIB can be in more than one 1 place at once, interacting with people, as mib was kicking richard’s ass all the way at the foot when this happened.(remember the fireworks?)
You never know though, maybe he can actually do that.
True, it would have to be in more than one place or some other kinda of scenario where he is at work… kinda like Christian Sheppard, who was he?
I think if MIB could be at more than one place that it would mess would things badly. There is a scene where Ben is summoning the monster but Locke is already in the forest and comes out afterwards. Then later Ben falls down into the Temple and Flocke lets him go in further to get to Smokey Vent alone. I think these two scenes would have been done differently if he could appear as two people or could be in two spots.
If Sayid was dead, why wouldnt they give the order to bury him immediately? That prevents MIB from using that body and the Others have known that for quite some time. Thats why when one of theirs dies they want the bodies and they have them buried to prevent MIB from infiltrating them or using that form to manipulate another Other.
Ive never seen any evidence that Jacob can take over a body…..but maybe it is him thats inside Sayid? But then again Sayid probably wasnt dead, cause Miles said he wasnt getting anything trying to communicate with the body/corpse.
So not sure about Jacob, but willing to bet that Sayid isnt inhabited by MIB.
As far as his “home” I think he needs to use the Temple to get there, like a portal. And its been Jacob’s job to keep him from that goal for the benefit of mankind.

With all the connections to Egypt & what not, an why would Smokie want to stay on what to him is probably a prison???
We see water be used in someway by ben to summon the Smoke Monster after Alex gets killed & it looked like Ben drained a small pool of water that released Smokie so maybe the water surrounding the Island obviously keeps the Monster from leaving.
I have some ideas that ill post maybe but I got to think it through a little bit.

just something I thought of when you mentioned that Ben summoned Smokie but Locke/Flocke was out in the jungle…What if when Ben summoned Smokie he did come, just in the form of Locke. Just thought it was an interesting idea.
