John Locke will “save them all”
I just re-watched Episode 13 from season 1, Charlie and Jack are having a conversation about Locke, Jack asks Charlie if he trusts Locke. To which Charlie replies, “If there is someone I would have to put my absolute faith in to save us all, it would be John Locke”.
We’ve heard these words before, ‘what lies in the shadow of the statue?’ Answer: ‘He who will save us all’ Or in Season 6 John Locke… John’s body is lying in the shadow of the statue! John Locke is the answer!

I really hope what you’re saying is true!
I love this idea, but my issue is how is Locke going to return? Unless there is some kind of parallel universe cross or something equally complex?
A bit of a stretch with JK being dead and all
JL I meant to say. stupid fingers
Right, John is dead, but I still think that he is what they are referring to in that question, and perhaps it’s the fact that he died that will somehow save them.
The Locke from the splinter timeline IS COMING. They have 3 years of story timeline to get him to the “present” day in 2007. Nothing’s irreperable / irreversable. The hints are everywhere. My money is he boards Ajira in the sideways timeline and then simply “wakes up” as per the pilot episode. Why else has he been left on the beach by the writers when the first thing the “other” characters et al know to do is bury dead bodies.
I thought something along those lines too, but I’m really not sure how they’d be able to carry it off in a way that doesn’t become too complicated for some viewers. But I really hope so, I love Locke!
We got an answer to the statue/shadow question? I never heard it.. where was I? lol. “He who will save us all” very interesting! Hmm…
I would like this ending, poor Locke has been through hell.
I would love this to be the case.
His body is lying there on the beach it must have some significance. It will either rise as a result of the ‘infection’ or be brought to the temple and held in the spring.
Either way, the real John Locke is coming back! MIB better not tell him what he can’t do!
@Blackhearted – the beauty is it’s simple but dramatic. The audience’ll be fine if it happens. I would think they would cheer, actually.
Josh -LOL! 🙂
MiB’ll do that right after he gives Jack something to fix.
sarajs16, the answer was spoken in Latin.
imnotobsessed, excellent connection on Charlie’s statements.
Some times the answers to many questions are found in the earlier episodes.
Great thoughts!
Josh+Yojimbo,
just thought of an excellent scene:
MIB is on the beach again, talking to Others + Lost people, issue comes up about John Locke being dead, MIB laughingly says “He can’t come back, he’s already dead!” Then the real John Locke suddenly wakes up, spitting beach sand out of his mouth and says “don’t tell me what I can’t do!!”
I’ve been thinking of this a lot, wishing Locke would come back alive and kick some booty. But it seems unlikely, plus Richard saying he’s been on the island a long time and never seen anyone come back to life before has really made me doubt.
Then I thought, why couldn’t he be resurected, like Christ was. Christ was a first, Locke could be a first. Locke and Flocke could battle it out, really fooling people along the way. Or maybe it would be Jacob in Locke’s body, but I am not sure that makes sense either.
I really like your theory and your thoughts, good insight!
YES I love it. Nice connection. I had noticed Charlie’s statement, but hadn’t connected it to the Shadow of the Statue question! The fact that his body has been laying on the beach is very interesting … as is the fact that MIB isn’t in Locke’s actual body, is just taking on his appearance.
Nice observations, 5 start theory! I hope this is really what happens!!
That’s a genius scene actually, if that happens and he wakes up like that bobt, it will infact be my favourite tv moment of all time.
I really love it i dont want John Locke forgotten to some evil darkness lol.
I also just recalled another conversation between Richard and Jack last season, When they are retrieving the bomb Richard asks Jack something like “john locke came to see me and claimed to be our leader” (something along those lines) and Jack responds something like ‘If i were you i wouldnt count John Locke out just yet”
ok i found exactly what he said to Jack
Richard bends down to talk to Jack and tells him that over 20 years ago, John Locke walked into the others camp and said he was going to be their leader. Richard says that he’s gone off the island three times since then to visit him, but he never seemed particuarly special. Richard asks Jack if he knows Locke. Jack says that he knows him and “If I were you, I wouldn’t give up on him.”
The way they keep showing the body I expect the eyes to open up soon. If their conciousses travel back to the island from the alt 2004 maybe that will happen. Or, as Josh suggested, he’ll become infected/ claimed. They haven’t buried him yet which is a big no no on the island.
HAHA!
I am totally on board with this, nice link there with the passing comment in the Charlie/Jack scene. Locke was lying in the shadow of the statue! Thats brilliant!
Makes alot of sense that this is gonna happen somehow, it would explain why the writers have decided on this two realities deal, why Lockes dead body is still around and also the ‘bad twin’ book and that Dharma video with the two bunnies.
2 Lockes, one side light, one side dark. I love it.
Really good connection and i’m pretty sure your prediction will be right.
@bobt & blackhearted_love
That scene would be amazing! I want nothing more then the John Locke I have come to know and love to wakeup and be island ready again!
MIB is tarnishing the John Locke reputation.
Wow, this conversation kinda gave me goosebumps lol.
I’m starting to have this microscopic hunch that we’ll ‘re-see’ the pilot of season one, Jack magically in the middle of a bamboo forest and all!
One other thought on your quote, Jenius, as I was just thinking about that conversation where Richard says he never noticed anything particularly special about John. Wouldn’t it just be ironic if the person that had no destiny on the island created his own destiny on the island by telling Richard he was the leader and in the end saving everything because Richard believed him? Well, so far that’s already true. Richard never would have brought him to the island if John hadn’t come to him in Jughead. But Jacob also touched his shoulder after he died being pushed out the window. This leads to the assumption that Jacob wants to prove people can be changed for the better, or can change destiny/the past/future, or something along those lines.
So John is another exception to the fate/destiny/WHH thing. And saves us all.
lostinthought: “Christ was a first.”
Christ was not a first. He resurrected Lazarus before he pulled it off on himself.
Christian arrived DEAD, was apparently copied and his body disappeared. Locke arrived DEAD, was definitely copied and his body is lying in the shadow of the statue. WHY is his body still there if Christian’s is not? While it may just be a plot requirement (losties seeing that the true Locke is really dead), I certainly hope that there is a deeper significance.
My money is that Jon is going to get claimed. It is very true with the burrial thing. This would be epic, but I believe desmond fits into this puzzle somehow
amarissimus- good point, if your only talking about bringing people back to the dead. Lazarus was brought back from the dead, but only soon after being dead. Christ was resurrected and his body went through a perfection process that was different than Lazarus.
To your credit I am not sure if the writers care about this small detail, which means it’s probably mute anyway.
there must be a more important reason as to why Locke’s body is still being carried around. it can’t have just been for the purpose of proving to everyone that Nemesis is now impersonating him.
Just looking at all the comments, what many of us forgot to also take into account was the last supper picture made for Lost. What we see is Locke in the position that Jesus was in and Sayid in the place of Judas. Now kowing that Sayid is infected, we are also seeing how significant that poster was after all and that idea of Locke saving everyoen seems almost definate.
Also to add to my last comment, we should see sayid do something to let MIB into the temple showing some sort of betrayal to the original oceanic members
I agree…John Locke will return to the island in the alt.timeline…Jack will have repaied his body…when he returns, he won’t be the weak, pathetic, ‘all trust in the island’ John we knew before…John was easily manipulated before by the island/others/MIB because he’d put all his faith in the island as he was suddenly able to walk around again…this made him easy pickings to be coersed by MIB/ISLAND…remember that episode ‘Further Instructions’? In his flashback, the undercover cop targeted him because his profile suggested he was the most likely to fall to coersion in the hippy community…thus, this is what happened to him on the island as well.
from pics over at DARKUFO, they better start to hurry up and do something with John Locke’s body. It looks like it is starting to rot from being in the sun.
That being said, “John Locke will save us all!”
to LostinLocke
kudos! great reference
to add more fuel to the fire…
when locke visits walt off island, walt claimed he had a vision of locke on the island. He said john was wearing a suit, on the beach and was surrounded by people that wanted to kill him.
Now…the flocke on the beach was not wearing a suit. However, the dead locke body on the beach is wearing a suit.
If Walt is correct (why else would he have had that line) than perhaps locke will be resurrected, with the others either believing he is infected or that he is MIB, and therefore they would want to kill him.
ekolocation,
thats brilliant,
another easily forgotten comment that adds to this being a possibility.
I’m so on the bandwagon with this one.
thanks. ive always been intrigued by walt, and when he said that, i never forgot it and was waiting the whole time for it to come true. the theory and comments here seemed to fit perfectly
I love it! Can already see this all playing out over the next few weeks before my very eyes! 😀 Nice guys!
Thanks elokation, so so true! I am excited for tonights episode! (well I was already..)
My question then is if Flocke is really MIB, will Locke be Locke or Jacob? And if he’s himself, where does Jacob come back into play?
The more I think about this, the more I am completely and utterly convinced! The Walt connection – genius!
I reckon the Locke that we’re going to see won’t be a posessed or ‘infected’ Locke (i hope not anyway), we’re going to see good old Locke somehow, the alt timeline/universe thing is going to come into play here, or even better….MEGA-LOCKE!
Maybe the alt timeline Locke wasn’t lying about going on that walkabout.
I’m getting carried away with this now.
Eko – yes, awesome spot.
“Everything that Rises Must Converge” – there will be a crossover. I brought up why Locke will wake up on the beach a few weeks ago because it just made sense in all of these little ways – it just clicked there are some additional thought/notes on this topic there.

@ Shephards Flocke – not megaLocke – Locke2.0 – 🙂 MegaLocke2.0?
NO!!!! My favorite scene of resurrecting spitting-beach-sand “Don’t tell me what I can’t do!” Locke did NOT happen… NO!!!!! And now my poor old dead time travelin’, well fallin’, hatch findin’, boar eatin’ John Locke is dead and buried :(…. Well, I’ll put my trust back in the writers to create what they deem best.. I thought the episode was excellent!
DAMN!!
Just watched the latest ep, it was great. Can’t believe Locke got buried, i was thinking there might be a chance they’ll take him to the temple then Locke got put in the ground, oh well.
I still think the alt timeline Locke might come into play, theres still 3 years of story in the alt timeline before it catches up with the original one, so who knows what will happen.
I loved all the characters meeting and interacting in the alt timeline, is it all coincidence or is there some link between the two universes? Everythings slowly becoming clearer.
Uh oh. This could be a close one! LOL.
He’s not…quite…buried…yet. 🙂
But what an awesome episode. These writers are gooood. Very hard to peg.
If they cut back to the beach with Sun et al again before anything else with alt Locke, the “waking up on the beach” theory will be as dead as Locke v1.
Well, in Lost we have definitely seen that it’s not over till it’s over(charlie, sayid and all the other thousands of people that were resuscitated after drowning) …well unless one of our crazy characters see the dead version of them again. But what I’m hoping in is to get our redemption from the “nikki finale breathe” scene, and Locke is going to burst his eyes open and take in a big gasp of air before they bury his head…They can’t just put Locke in Jesus’ spot in The Lost Supper pic and not give us our good ‘ole Locke back.
Wow, this is a simple yet exciting thread!
