Claire’s Homecoming

I’m currently rewatching Homecoming… (Yes, I’m on my 5th rewatch.) Something just occurred to me. When Claire walks out of the jungle, and is brought to the caves she remembers nothing of the plane crash and/or the survivors. What if somehow the Claire that walked out of the jungle is from another timeline? So hence, Claire was never returned after Ethan kidnapped her… (This is just a thought guys…)

  1. But it’s weird because Sayid and Ben (after they were dipped and healed) ONLY forgot how they died, or what happened. It was a small lapse in memory. Clair forgot a lot more. There has to be a reason for the difference.

Or maybe Claire just had pregnancy brain.

We don’t have any evidence of Rousseau forgetting anything ever do we?

  2. I think this is a bit of a stretch. I think Claire died when the house blew up and was brought back to life by the same power that brought back Sayid “the infection”.

Plus like Benhamine said we have already seen how she gets back to camp from Ethan’s lab, so she cant be from another time line.

  3. I dont think she is from another timeline, she just had amnesia & with all that happens on this show im sure thats believable.

@Monkey-How was she resurrected so fast? How did she recognize her father Christian if she has forgotten it all?

I think Claire is still alive & when we saw Claire’s cabin blowing up in dharmaville in my opinion was just a really dramatic preview for the following week.

We thought she coulod be dead because the preview of a house blowing up & Sawyer screaming for Claire…very dramatic but when we watched she is fine only to disappear a little later.

  4. @BING just watched the episode were Claire’s house is hit by a rocket launcher. Sawyer runs to the house when it explodes and he gets knocked back. After he gets back up, he runs over to search for Claire in the rubble. He finds Claire amongst the remains virtually unharmed then she comes around.

I dont think there is much time difference between Sayid dying and coming back to life and Claire getting hit by a rocket launcher and sawyer finding her.

Also Sayid so far appears normal and remembers almost everything apart from dying.

  5. @monkey2music That’s what I’ve been thinking.

@lostinthought Rousseau forgot that she ever met any of the others. In season one after Sayid tortures Sawyer he leaves the camp and is taken by Rousseau. This is when we first see her. She tells him about the others and he asks her if she’s ever seen them. She says no. In season 5 we see a younger Ben Linus (accompanied by Ethan) waking her up in the night and stealing her baby. Don’t you think she would remember this? She could be lying or it could be an editing issue. I still don’t think that Claire or Rousseau are from alternate timelines. I don’t think it’s possible to travel between timelines unless the timelines were to merge due to course correction in which case everyone would going into the other timeline.

Anyways, why were you curious of Rousseau losing her memory? Do you think she was infected? Or just because she was pregnant?

  6. Well would Sayid even be ‘infected’ if he wasnt placed in the dirty pool? We have seen people die on the Island all over, Others/losties we have seen them killed with no infection occuring no healing & no coming back to life but maybe because Sayid is a canditate the rules could be different.

An if Claire was on the wall of names then maybe she is an exception as well & is acceptable to be claimed if she dies(?)

  7. We know Sayid dies but the fact that we are debating if Claire died that day is kind of what persuades me to think she lived through it all with the assistance of Christian.

  8. Rousseau’s team also got infected and they never went in to the fountain and I cant see them being candidates.

I don’t see how Christian has saved Claire? He did visit her during the night on the day she was hit by the rocket launcher, but still that is a bit late to turn up with a band aid lol.

  9. hahah a band aid. I was thinking more he helped her manage to stay alive out on a crazy Island, an im not sure a band aid would be necessary cause she wasnt injured significantly like Sayid was.

I believe everyone brought to the Island was just that an Brought there for some major or miniscule purpose.

Remember Dogen says “he was brought just like everyone else”.

Was Aaron with her when the house blows up?

  10. Who was Dogen referring too?

Hurly was babysitting Aaron in a different house cause Claire wanted to take a nap.

“im not sure a band aid would be necessary cause she wasnt injured significantly”

SHE WAS HIT BY A ROCKET LAUNCHER! lol

  11. I think Dogen was talking to Jack when Jack asked him how he got there, an I know she was in an exploding house but come on she would be in pieces & most likely charred crispy after that explosion. Im no doctor but she sure looked fine to me with no complaints or signs of internal damage issues.

If what you are saying is that Claire is dead & claimed then we will need to see her dying in someway later or them going back to the day she was killed in the explosion & explain but I think it will be way easier to show us the audience that she is still alive or she died after…in my opinion it will be easier to explain then she died then but was able to walk & interact perfectly fine.

  12. Would it be so hard for someone like Dogen to be explaining how the infection works and say something to the extent of, “At some point she died (Flash of the scene where her house is getting blown up).” They’ve done things like this before where they show the same thing multiple times.

For example, the opening sequence of events when the losties originally went into the hatch. They showed that damn scene like 5 times. Or how about the scene of them all meeting at the dock to go back to the island. Or how about the oceanic 815 flight/crash. They’ve shown that from about 20 different perspectives. The writers don’t mind reusing footage and in my mind it wouldn’t be that difficult to tell us that she died in the explosion. If I’m not mistaken they did this in one of the past three episodes but I can’t exactly remember what it was.

Also, she doesn’t have to die due to fire. I’m sure a pillar could have fallen on her or something stabbed her like a wooden shrapnel or something and she healed. Even Jack noted how quickly Sayid’s wound was healing. We don’t know how long between when Sayid is resurrected and that scene but in my mind it seemed like it happened very shortly after.

It still seems pretty obvious in my mind that death has something to do with this infection.

  13. You may not need to die to become infected. Is this the infection the others were given Claire the vaccine for and the shots that Des was taking. Maybe it was that Sayid was already infected before he died, and the infection somehow kept him alive.

  14. I always thought Claire’s memory loss was due to the blunt force trauma to the head… Danielle did have to cold cock her upside the head with the butt of her rifle to keep her quiet.

But, maybe it’s something else and I’m just taking the easy road out!

  15. I think Claire and Sayid are both hanging between life and death – they are semi-possessed undead, if you will. Whether this hanging in the balance IS the Sickness, or a result of it, I do not know.

*Both Claire and Sayid are known to be Sick.

*Miles responded very strangely to both Sayid and Claire in precisely the same manner – a reaction we do not see him have under any other circumstances. Miles can commune with the dead. Some of our answers lie in why Miles responded that way, and what was he experiencing? Were the bodies of Claire and Sayid speaking to him as though from the grave though they were walking and talking as though alive?

I think that they were claimed by other spirits on the Island. Rousseau- or whomever has been possessing her before she was finally “finished off”- is now possessing (ie taking over the body and life of) Claire. Sayid is being taken over by/possessed by another spirit of the Island. Perhaps candidates who die are candidates because they are susceptible to possession. Only one is MEANT to become the next Jacob or to be the host for Jacob’s next body (Jack?). The rest can be possessed by other spirits of the Island.

Miles was told that a great many Spirits lived on the Island when he took the freighter job. Key word- living. Perhaps those candidates who become taken over are part of Anti-Locke’s “side” in the war. It is a fight not of good and evil, but shadow and light- dead and living!

  16. Remember… This is a friendly group… I’ve watched every episode 4 times, and posted a discussion theory. It is quite possible that there are people from alternate timelines walking around w/ what we know..

  17. Hey Sinster, it wasn’t me that provoked any of that comment, was it? Because, I was pretty much agreeing with you that your theory could be possible. What I meant by my comment is that things may not be what they seem and what I thought was an obvious answer all along for Claire’s memory loss may have in fact be the easy road out, for me! Meaning there could be more to it than meets the eye.

  18. Oh, and in regards to the band aid… lol! I find it a bit strange that the only times we ever see Claire and Christian together, on and off the island, she has a band aid on her head. And, in the exact same spot!!! Maybe nothing important… But, I thought it was one of those weird things worth noting!

  19. @elsewhere Funny dude, I was actually joking about the “band aid to cure a rocket launcher wound” thing, I didn’t notice she actually gets one lol.

I must go back to investigate, maybe the magic band aid is the key too it all?

Or maybe BING is right and Christian did help her survive with is trusty island first aid kit.

@sinster sorry for sandbagging your theory. But hey look on the bright side, my one and only theory wasn’t even worthy of sandbagging. The 0 comments sign still haunts me to this day lol.

But I have to say I am with sohrshah on this one. I really like the idea of the same spirit that was in Rousseau is now in Claire. Good thinking!

  20. @ Elsewhere, my comment was not at you. Someone made short answer 2 3 of the recent theories I posted saying things like WRONG AGAIN. I felt it was an attack b/c it happened on 3 different occasions and no input on the discussion was provided. I reported the comment & now have noticed it gone. I welcome disagreement, and healthy debate, but it was just rudeness..

  21. LOL good 2 know sohrshah… Yeah I read one earlier in the day yesterday, and was annoyed… (I read it via my iPhone, and then when I got home there was bunch.) This is a friendly forum for us 2 discuss Lost. :0)
