23-Shepard

I don’t think that Jack is the Shepard that the candidate list refers to. I think it is Christian. But why isn’t his name crossed out?He is after all, for all intent and purposes, dead. He has work to do. For whom and why is yet to be seen. But I have an strange feeling that his entity is needed on the island for a few reason, the most obvious being Jack, Claire and Aaron. Think about the following things:
1. Jack follows his image and finds the clean water which solidifies his role as leader of the Losties.
2. He seduces Claire to MIB’s side and in the process, Claire is driven crazy by the grief of losing Aaron and that fuels her grudge against the Others further more aligning her with MIB.
3. Aaron is doomed to be ‘raised by another’ because of Claire’s abandonment.
4. Everybody assumes MIB/Smokey can appear to a person as the something that the person loves the most, then why did he appear to John Locke as Christian is Smokey really does = Christian? To start a catalyst to get the Oceanic 6 back to the island (tell my son I said hello), as Ben said if you got Jack, then you got all of them (well, almost all).

Also a quick side note:
I believe that the lighthouse is MIB’s. I just think that because the candidates names are written in black and in the cave the names are written in white, sometimes the answer really is right in front of you and you are too blind to see.

Hi. I am an uber Lost fan. Admittedly, I jumped on the bandwagon a little late, halfway through the third season but thanks to the DVD's I am all caught up and do frequent re-watches. BTW my new image reflects my love/hate relationship with Lost. I always feel like I am on the verge of blowing up at the end of every episode because when I think I finally figured it out, nope the rug is pulled out.

  1. The first time Jack tried to follow his dad he almost got killed falling off a cliff. Much as I dislike the idea it seems Christian was smokey the whole time.

  2. I always thought that Christian was Smokey, and the scene that you are referring too way way back when was one of the first things that made me believe that MiB couldnt kill Jack and maybe others, directly. But the way Claire mentioned her friend and her father….that makes it sound like they are two different entities. Granted Christian does seem to be able to disappear at will, and how else would have he gotten down into the FDW room without being Smokey…..

Way back I also thought the episode where Hurleys old friend from the insane asylum tried to get him to kill himself was another example of Smokey trying to off the Losties. But how would have he gotten access to that guy’s body. Because that one doesnt follow the rules we have learned since, I dont think we will ever get the answer to that one.

  3. greatforsaken,

Your post gave me an idea. We know that Hurley can see dead people, so what if his imaginary friend was really a supremely annoying spirit? That could possibly make him fair game for being imitated by Smokey on the island. I don’t think that Smokey needs a body, I think he just needs a memory.

  4. I don’t think Christian is dead, or has every been dead. I wrote a theory on this. Christian has ALWAYS been connected 2 the island… He visited the lamp post prior to his visit to Australia, found the WINDOW, and faked his death, ensuring BOTH his children were on the flight. Jack w/ his body, and his daughter Claire w/ the info from the psychic…

The entire plane crash of FLIGHT 815 was faked, so hence the death of one person is quite plausible…

Remember, Christian’s coffin has always been empty on the island, which the exact opposite of Locke’s…
