How does an island sink?
It’s been bugging me since I first saw the silliness that was the “special” effects of the island underwater. I didn’t think islands could float, I always thought they were, ya know, part of the earth. I thought an island was simply an elevated land mass caused by volcanic eruptions from ages past and such.
The “sinking” happened sometime within the past few decade. I recall seeing Dharmaville as well as the statue’s foot of course. For something like this to happen within such a relatively short period of time, wouldn’t it require an EXTREMELY serious amount of force? My only idea is the energy pocket they were drilling towards, but it still seems quite crazy really. Please educate this guy if you can.
i think the drilling would explain it. This is a simpler explanation than a small explosion in another timeline causing it.
Maybe an island wouldn’t ‘sink’ like that, could they be suggesting its not actually an island?? Hmmmm…

You’re completely right about a bomb sinking an island. If THAT’S the way this show plays out (exploded bomb = sunken island) I’m going to lose it.
I knew it. All along, this story is just another network show kissin ass to the world.

maybe someone turned the donkeywheel in the “alternate timeline”, causing it to pop up underwater…
If the island is really an island then physically moving the island never makes any sense. Unless they’re just travelling to an alternate universe where everything is the same except the island exists in a different place.

pfft i know right?? It certainly doesn’t make as much sense as people disappearing off a plane in a flash of light, timetraveling to the 70’s, while everyone else lands in the plane only a few weeks in the past. But not everything can be so obvious highbrow.
Bailey, You’re so right about that, i don’t know how they’re going to explain that one. I have a feeling they can’t.
People flashing off a plane and time travelling is more beleivable than moving the island. Do they move all the stuff on the top and all the way down to the ocean floor? How do they compensate for differences in depth?

I was just sarcastically pointing out how redundant some of our conversations are at some points…we’ve seen alot of stuff. a lot of stuff that makes zero sense 🙂
This island being a spaceship is about the only possible outcome with what we have right now, and it’s damn sickening.
I don’t think it “sank.” I think it teleported there. Makes sense, since the island CAN move. heh
We’ve seen the island move before, we watched it, with our own eyes, in the end of season 4. So we can’t really say stuff like “People flashing off a plane and time travelling is more beleivable than moving the island.” (i feel like i’m picking on highbrow here. i don’t mean too, really) because we’ve seen both those things happen.
I think that the island sinking, and the island transporting to the ocean floor are both equally possible.
and we’re never going to correctly guess what happened to it. Not at this point anyway :p
The writers said that it’s a BIG mystery of how and when the island sank… I guess we’ll just have to see
my guess is that we haven’t seen why yet
