Changing the Rules

I don’t know about anyone else but when Smokie was allowed into the Temple because Sayid killed Dogen I was pretty disappointed. What happened to him not being able to break the ring of ashes? And don’t say maybe Sayid did that. If he did they would have showed it. Seems like the writers are just making rules up as they go along now.

  1. Dogen must have had some mystical power through his contact/deal with Jacob that kept Locke out, perhaps having to do with his sacrifice to save his son.

  2. Well it was obviously Dogen then that controlled whether or not MIB was allowed in the Temple…hence the hippie guy saying “You have no idea what you have just done” right before Sayid killed him and Claire saying “he is coming now”. After Dogen died.

  3. I see what you’re all saying, so what was the importance of the ash then? The ash was only effective when Dogen was alive? What kind of fantasy show are we watching now? (JK, I love this shit), but it IS turning out to be kind of magical and imaginary, and I’m not really digging that part too much.

  4. It rained alot on the island, but didn’t wash away all the ash around the cabin for years! I just wish they would have stuck to their original rule and not make up a new one. Having Sayid, Claire or someone else break the ring would have been very easy to show. It’s little stuff like this that the writers should get right. They know that there are people, like us on here, who are obsessed with every little detail.
It’s not like I’m going to quit watching the show at this point, but I am dissapointed in all of you! Making up excuses for the writers!

  5. Perhaps the ash was related to Dogen somehow? Perhaps it was the ash from Dogen’s son or even from Dogen himself or something? I don’t know!
