Aaron versus David
Let me first say i dont visit this site as often as I would like to so if this has been covered please excuse me.Â
I am not sure if this is plot misdirection but David does look alot like a younger “man in black” and of course Aaron looks alot like a young Jacob. The writers even focus on the blue eye color of David and the blue eye color of nemisis. Lets say for a moment that the only place that the two time lines can exist is the island. Nemisis stated that he wants to go “home”. Maybe we are seeing his home in the flash-sideways. The only way MIB can exist is either on the island or in his own timeline. All the events he has influenced have caused the alt timeline and this isn’t the first time an alt time line has been created which was alluded to while Jacob and MIB were on the beach waiting for ship (blackrock). The frozen donkey wheel (time travel explanation) and the first alt time line creation brought nemisis aka David to the island originally but he could not leave the island because he would cease to exist outside of his own timeline. He has tried several times to return but it “always ends the same”. Jacob (Aaron) also arrived via the donkey wheel (time travel explanation) and needs to keep David (MIB) on the island because if his timeline is allowed to exist mankind would cease to exist. All the canidates have been brought to the island by Jacob to stop MIB. We are being shown the flash-sideways simply to explain MIB origin. Mathew Fox has stated that lost will be a bittersweet ending. I believe that it will end with Jack killing David realizing that he killed his own son to protect humanity.  Please add to this or let me know what you think.
I would be slightly surprised if Lost turns into a Greek tragedy with Jack killing his son and all, but everything is possible.
Sounds good, I put a discussion on here about roughly the same thing and with Aaron being Jacob and David being MiB, them being cousins would explain the “killed by an old friend who grew tired of my company” he would also need the ATL to exist so he could. I like your way of linking this with the ending that is sad and involves jack.
I was theorizing this also, that David may be a young MiB…however, personally, I think I would be a little annoyed that they introduced MiB so much earlier…and David so late in the series as if to just come up with a last minute explanation for MiB..whereas with Jacob..Aaron was already a key character from before and it makes for a more “a-ha!!” moment if we find out Jacob is indeed Aaron (although the name change is annoying, but I suppose necessary).
I was also theorizing that the two bodies Jack found in the cave in season 1 were in fact the dead body of himself and his half sister Claire. Before I believed that the two bodies were parents (a mother and father) of MiB and Jacob who I thought might be brothers. But now I suspect that if Jacob is Aaron and David is MiB, that the two dead bodies are of Claire and Jack… I agree with sheally23 that David somehow ended up on the island. I was thinking that David (in the timeline we are now seeing – the flash sideways) progresses in life, gets perhaps a little older, and then some event happens to bring him to the island. However, I think either he gets to the island wayyyy in the past (like before the Black Rock ship stranded inland) or he ended up in the right time, but then the island itself somehow ended up in the past which lead to Aaron and Jacob growing up and being aged as we have seen (they look to be in their forties).
As for postulation Jack might have to have a show down with David/MiB, I thought about this a lot and somehow I’m not convinced that MiB is the evil one and Jacob is the good one. But that debate probably deserves its own thread =)
I have alluded to this cousin relationship the last few weeks, and glad to see more people catching on. You have taken this a step further by suggesting David is big problem (if he is MIB) and that jack must kill him to save humanity. I like it a lot. Most extreme classical musicians, pianists (watch the film Shine) are on the edge mentally due to their genius (he would come from a spine surgeons family, ie genetically geniuses!) So perhaps at some point he flips, and uses a virus to destroy the world??! Would explain the link to Valenzetti and the work of Dharma in time travelling to avoid this event. Anyway nice post.
TawaretsAnkh, how do you figure that Aaron and David have the same father? Jack is David’s father, and Claire is his sister, you’re not suggesting that Jack is the father of Aaron, are you? Am I missing something??
i think tawaretsankh meant that claire and jack have the same father (christian) but different mothers (making them half sister and brother), and is applying the same theory to jacob and MIB (that they are only half brothers)
