Lighthouse for Jacob, Cliff-Cave for Nemesis?
Kate Austen’s name was crossed-out in the cave (as confirmed by the writers) but was not crossed-out in the lighthouse. Is this because there are two separate people managing these lists? In other words, perhaps Jacob’s list is written in the lighthouse while Nemesis’ “copy” of the list is in the coastal cave. Perhaps another reason for Kate’s name being crossed-out in one and not in the other is because Jacob believes she is still a candidate while Nemesis believes she is not.
I believe that Jacob knows which Kwon is 42 on his dial in the lighthouse, and Nemesis isn’t sure because Jacob never told him if it was Jin, Sun, or Ji-Yeon. Nemesis probably took the names right from the lighthouse dial and copied them to his cave wall, uncertain as anyone else as to who the surname actually represents.
I think we got it backwards, hence Jacob didn’t care the mirrors were smashed. I think MIB being science, his is the lighthouse while Jacob owned the caves. Hence the scales in the cave vs the lighthouse and he threw the rock out after Jacob died as an “inside” joke. And why would he cross locke off his own list? he’s got him right? so if it was his list wouldn’t he have circled locke saying “you did it buddy, now i gots your body”?
I really like where this is going!!!!! However, I kind of thought the lighthouse was used to bring people to the island..and isn’t that Jacob’s job? So what does MiB need a lighthouse for? Conversely, why does Jacob need that hard-to-reach cave when he had that little broken foot statue to live near (where Ben killed him)?
AllGoodThings, I don’t think Nemesis would have “circled” Locke like that.. my theory is that the cave list is Nemesis’ copy of Jacob’s lighthouse list of candidates, and Nemesis’ mission is to eliminate all the candidates. Perhaps it was the first time Nemesis was back at the cave since taking Locke’s body and the first chance he had to cross it out since Locke died/returned to the island.
