Lord Of The Flies

Lord of the Flies seems to be a great influence of Lost; people on an uninhabited island.

Doggen saying “There is a darkness growing in him, and once it reaches his heart; everything your friend once was will be gone” about Sayid made me almost immediatly think of the quote from Lord of the Flies; “the darkness of mans heart”. To me, Lost seems to be making a direct reference to LOTF, although that may be me looking into things too closely.

The theme of LOTF comes from William Golding, the author’s view on humanity; that basically we are all intrinsically evil, to put it bluntly.

Another quote comes to mind when I think about the ‘infection’ in Lost. In LOTF, “man’s essential illness” describes the above idea. An infection is an illness….

I’m not sure if this was even worth noticing, but perhaps the season may end with some interesting parallels with Lord of the Flues.
