MIB = Wine / Island = Cork / Jacob = ?

Thoughts, any suggestions? From the wine metaphor i would have to go with the bottle. ( the only remaining option ) So what is his purpose? Keeping everything together?

  1. Jacob wouldn’t be the bottle, just the guy not letting anyone open the bottle. This lends credit to the doomsday theories- if MIB gets off the island he would infect the world. sounds like doomsday to me.

    Jacobs purpose is to make sure doomsday doesn’t occur.

  2. he didnt really say doomsday persay, just that smoky believes that people can all be corrupted because it’s in our nature to sin. well that wouldnt necessarily mean death and distraction like doomsday, it would just mean a world full of corrupt people.

  3. Perhaps if Smokey left he would cause people to become infected – thus causing the end of human kind.

    It’s kind of the valenzetti thing I guess. The candidates are the numbers – the people taking over from Jacob and stopped Smokey from leaving the island (saving the world).

  4. There is something that doesn’t make sense about this. MIB believes that people are weak. So what? That doesn’t mean that MIB needs to take advantage of their weakness and infect them.

    This smells way too much Christianity for me.

  5. I thought it would have more sense saying something like –
    Nemesis = Wine
    The Island = the bottle
    Jacob – the cork(since his life/death seems essential to leaving the Island)
    But Jacob didn’t gave up his part.

    I found it curious that Nemesis actually reveled to Richard that he was the Smoke, anyone else thought so too?

    Wouldn’t it have made more sense from a deceptive point of view to say that it was Jacob?

  6. AngiveL, I was also somewhat surprised (in some sense) that MIB admitted almost right away to Richard that he was the Black Smoke.
