MIB is the end of the world
Here is a my theory on the whole point of the show. In a nutshell.
There are three key parts of the show.
The Island – The island is it’s own entity in the show. It has properties that make is very special. I believe these properties are all scientific in nature. The island may be a natural formation of speical magentic properties or exist at a unique point on our planet. It may be it got these properties from a meteor that crashed on the island (exotic material). Regardless of all that it is it’s own mystery seperate of Jacbo/MIB
Jacob – A man that seems to want to prove that humans are worth saving. As made somewhat clear by his statement to MIB “It only ends once, everything leading up to that is just progress”. He is trying to prove or fix something that has happened in the future? In another timeline maybe?
MIB – A man (at one point) that does no share Jacob’s belief in humanity. He believes humanity can not be saved and should be wiped out, by him it would seem.
Now here is the basic thoery. It’s a rough idea right now. Just wanted to see what covnersation it can spark.
Jacob is from the future. A future in which MIB escapes the island and destroys everything.
Sometime or Timeline in the future it will be revealed that Jacob goes to the island as a researcher. To learn about the island. During his time there he is tricked or someone with him is tricked and MIB is released. Causing the end of the world in some way.
To remedy the situation Jacob uses the island to travel back in time, or to another timeline and work towards stopping the end (The escape of MIB).
As a sidenote. A scientific explanation for Smokie and the “evil” he represents could be that he is from another timeline where things have ended allready. If he were to enter into a timeline other than his own. It could cause the same events to occur in that timeline. Therefore he may not be evil incarnate. He actually is the cause of the end. Therefore he must stay trapped on the island.
Am I crazy? This is my first shot at writing out the madness in my head!
Nice! I’m going to go ahead and say that the flash sideways are a world where MIB has been released and the end (of the flash sideways timeline at least) is soon to come, we just haven’t gotten far enough in that timeline yet. The losties will have to stop MIB to prevent this “alternate” timeline from occuring.
Nice but that wouldn’t explain Jacob’s powers to revive people. Unless it’s yet to be revealed that Jacob in fact has used technology to keep Richard from aging, reviving Locke, probably fixing Jack’s wife spine trauma indirectly among many other things.
But your theory makes a lot of sense.
Why do people insist that someone is from the future? How would they travel back? How would they control where they went? Why does anyone have to be from the future in the first place?
The time traveling on the show was completely accidental, I just dont see how someone would time travel on purpose in this show.
The reason I think it’s quite possible that Jacob has been to the future is because of his words.
“It only ends once. Everything leading up to that is just progress”
Leading up to would imply that he knows “when” an event is going to occur.
To say that no one is in control of time and where the island might go doesn’t make sense to me.
I am pretty sure Jack and them did not randomly jump to the 70’s dharma time. It is all very planned out carefully executed moves by MIB and Jacob.
I could be wrong but I think there is plenty of reason to believe an unseen future is involved in the end game. One that the players Jacob/MIB know is comming.
