Is Desmond time skipping?
I need to know this, cuz I couldn’t figure it out by my own:
In tonight’s episode (Everybody loves hugo), was Desmond time traveling from one reality to the other? What I mean is, has he been time skipping from one alternate universe to the other since he was exposed to the enormous amount of EM energy? Is that the reason some of you deduced that is why Des crashed Locke (in the ATL) with his car?cuz Locke threw him into the well in the island?
I’m desperate, who knows?
that’s what i thought at first, that Desmond did that because he knew Locke was “bad”, but then i decided that it makes a lot more sense that he just wants Locke to remember his other life.
The crash…paralyzed to walking…to remember you need a big trigger…be it a kiss, near death, similar situation/feelings, etc. So I think he just wants Locke to realize what happened to him.
Desmond is aware of both timelines and able to make decisions in both which makes him very special. From here on out, i think, we have to assume that everything Desmond does he is taking into account both timelines.
I thought right away “If Desmond hurts Locke in the ALT then he could hurt MIB” but lollshannon has a convincing point to the contrary.
I think the direction was misleading on that part.. It seemed that Desmond definitely had an epiphany while knocked out by the magnetic energy, but what he saw that convinced him to help Widmore is unclear. Alternately, I believe Desmond has the Oceanic 815 manifest and is going to each of the people on the flight to try and jolt them into remembering their other lives. I presume by hitting Locke head-on with his vehicle, he was trying to force Locke to remember being thrown out of a window by his father.. (although I forget, if Locke’s life is good in the FSW and his relationship with his dad is good, why is he still paralyzed?) I believe that Desmond also did this with Hurley by encouraging him to talk with Libby, which lead to Hurley’s memories flooding back.
I bet in the next few episodes we will see Desmond approach more of the Losties in the FSW and cause them to regain memories of their alternative/real lives…

The thing is, you answered everything regarding Des bout him except the time traveling thingy.
Does anyone know or think he is doing that? (since the EM energy experiment on him). Or he only had that “epiphany” you say (which I see as actual time travel, cuz we see in Happily ever after” that Des actually fainted after time traveling, which is the same thing that happened back on season 4 in “the constant”).
Thoughts?
Ok, I’ve been gradually getting on board the Desmond is trying to hurt MIB wagon here. But I would think Flash Sideways John Locke wouldn’t remember being the MIB…it’s not actually Locke’s body. Oh, I don’t know ! I start with one idea then I change…this show !
