Brothers?

I must know. Is there a specific reason as to why everyone’s under the impression that Jacob and MIB are brothers? I recall Jacob referring to MIB as an old friend, but never once was there talk of them being siblings. I’m asking because the belief of them being related is almost anonymous, and I feel I may be missing something.

I don’t know how a human, or whatever Jacob is, is related to smoke, or evil incarnate, or whatever Smokie is……Obviously, we still have too much to learn.

So......I guess LOST was a good show.....WAS a good show.

7 thoughts on “Brothers?

  1. Suppose it’s because of all the Cain and Abel links. Or the biblical family links. Plus the whole nature of the show is focused on showing how the characters are linked and the influence of family. Jack, Christian, claire Aaron, etc…. Widmore, Des, penny etc… You get the picture. But I agree the whole concept is based on pure speculation.

  2. Hmm. Jack and Claire. Penny and Daniel. Maybe MIB and Jacob are siblings but they don’t know it – that could explain the “old friend” comment.

  3. When someone talks about them being brothers, it reminds me of the “Jacob and Esau” theories from last season after seeing MIB on the beach.

I put something out about them being father and son, and it didnt go over well because they used the term “friend”…which honestly I dont see where that turns to brothers either…

About them not knowing they are brothers…cooooome onnnn…

Jacob knows exactly when and where John Locke is going to fall out a window, or Sayids wife is going to be hit by a car so precisely…? The only way Jacob doesnt just know things is if he made some sort of economical decision to make them happen himself… … … … … … …

This guy knows everything about the island. MIB talked about his crazy mother.
They know everything about each other almost…I find it difficult to believe they are brothers on any level without at least Jacob being aware…and being MIB remembers his crazy mother, he would more than likely remember a brother like Jake…I would at least.

If they are brother, cool…I hope MIBs name isnt Esau as much as I like the biblical/spiritual elements in Lost…that would just make it almost cheesy…

Good question Chief…brothers huh… Mom has blonde hair, dad has jet black (or vice versa)hair…Jacob gets one, MIB gets the other…nope…I just dont buy it…

  4. Points well taken. I’m still not believing that the man in the black shirt is the true identity of this smokelike being. Of course, I have no reason to believe either way……it just seems that Smokie is from ancient times.

  5. *Crazy Talk Warning*

Im the opposite…I think the man is seemingly ancient, and like a reverse moth, changed into the monster by technology…”Deus Ex Machina”…

Thats really my thought on the entire show, even more than fate vs free will…Man of Science, Man of Faith…if you think about the two men, and the statement translated from “Deus”…
If the statement “Deus” proves true in Lost, the biggest irony of the whole show is that they are both men who believe in the same thing and dont know it(or maybe they or one of them does know it)…just different sides, balanced, light and dark…the island being the scale.

Jacob took MIBs body supposedly right?

Well MIB took John Lockes body ‘seemingly’…is there a difference?

Did Jacob used to be what MIB IS, and the same way MIB is/was seemingly Locke…?
And could my thought of JACOB being the economist in my recent post be true, and it was JACOB that got/wants off island to flex his muscles…and MIB is simply trying to stop him. It would make sense then why Jacob would promote himself as the kind, non interfering individual on island, and is touch happy off island…On island is his link to the real world…

    Richard: “Are you the Devil?”
Jacob: (no reply) just a sly look and slight crooked smile…then “No.”

Jacob creates the alt reality, so that he can connect and function as two people, when he is really just…one…flashing back and forth, ala Desmond Hume style…which is why they seem so similar…

Now if MIB used to have Jacobs body, as it seems he is trying to say, then maybe when Locke asks Des, “Do you know who I am?”…Desmond could have said…yes…you are Aaron from the future, all grown up then having your body taken over by the monster, only to travel back in time through the island to when Jacob was a child with his own body, and tried to kill him, sparking the who charade and predestinational types of paradoxs to begin with…which is why Jacob resembles Aaron all grown up…

Sorry to post that here, I have been dying to say that for so long…and it just came out…
