MIB/Widmore/Jacob – Who’s ‘the good guys’

After incident1 rewatch …

Bram tells Miles working for Widmore is bad; he should work w/Ilana and find out what lies in the shadow of the statue, and why he is as he is, and about his father.

So, the camps are … MIB/Widmore/Jacob …
We’ve been assuming Widmore/Ilana’s teams were on different sides of ‘the war’, but perhaps we they just have different jobs/goals:
-MIB wants off the island (or something)
-Widmore is the fighter
-Ilana – is to protect the candidates.

Ilana says they are ‘the good guys’
Ben says they are ‘the good guys’
Widmore says if MIB gets off island ‘everyone you love will be gone’
MIB offs people who don’t get with the program.

Widmore never calls himself ‘a good guy’ – just that you don’t want to be ‘on the wrong side’
We can assume MIB NOT a ‘good guy’

MIB/Jacob can’t kill each other, directly.

Perhaps, Widmore wanted Miles (and Locke) to ‘tip the scales’ and have a candidate or two on his side and Ilana/Bram wasn’t keen on this ‘cuz it made it more difficult to keep them safe.

A look at the Candidates shows that while Linus is a candidate Widmore is not one
But Straume is (as is Chang) – so was Faraday & Lewis.

Of course, this doesn’t explain why he killed Alex and wanted Rousseau dead (Rousseau is a candidate) … but it may explain why Widmore was brought to the island.

  1. I just have a feeling that we are going to see Widmore working with MIB at some point or making a deal with him…or maybe he already made the deal and now he is trying to get out of it…
