I have a feeling some of you may have been right all along…
Apologies if anyone has already posted this theory, but i don’t generally have time to read all the theories on here, so here goes..
MIB is Aaron. Nearly everyone has suggested at one point or another that Aaron is Jacob/was Jacob/will become Jacob. I’m sure there are more than a few who have though MIB may be Aaron, but haven’t come up with exact evidence to prove it.
Here is my attempt at proving it.
We know MIB can inhibit dead bodies. Hell, some people have speculated that Locke was inhibited by MIB straight after the crash. What if he wasn’t? What if the unborn (and not moving) Aaron was dead in the womb after the plane crash and MIB took over his body? That would explain lots of things, for example:-
MIB keeping Claire so close all the time
Making sure she didn’t get on the sub
Trying to kill everyone else – and by that I mean that he’s unlikely to get off the island and back to Aaron without Claire’s help, and by getting rid of the other losties, he has an almost clear path. If MIB and Claire get off the island, where is the first place she will go? To find Aaron.
Claire visited Kate off island and told her NOT to bring Aaron to the island, is this because if MIB is reunited with his soul (for lack of a better word – and thinking of that reminds me of the Horcruxes from Harry Potter; a bit of your soul spread around so you can’t “die”) then maybe this will create a paradox/end of the world?
What do you guys think? If i can think of anything else to explain this I will.
It’s crossed my mind as well.
The look of terror on the psychic’s face when explaining that Claire needed to raise him was a bit odd.
A very busy John Locke (who may have been slightly infected) going out of his way to make a crib for the little devil was a bit odd.
Dr. Goodspeed (Ethan in Alt. universe) telling Claire that Aaron was going to be a handful was quite odd. Quite odd only because there was a weird pause after he said that.
These things are obviously nothing major, but there’s really not much to go off of either way. I like the details you’ve mentioned. It does get you thinking.

What if MIB and Jacob are both Aaron???
It is the result of both timelines. In one, the plane crash version, Aaron is dead and MIB develops (also explaining why the mysterious blonde boy appearing has darker hair when older). The other is safe landing universe, where Aaron grows up as normal to become Jacob.
Thus explaining the yin and yang elements. the darkness and hope in one person. Also, in one he is raised by a crazy mother (Claire goes crazy in the plane crash) and the other by a sane mother.
Overall I do believe it makes sense, but wonder how it ties in to this story and the general plot.
Probably it is still based around time travel and stopping some civilization shattering event. only that a lot of complications have been made by the smoke monster taking control of certain individuals. Aaron being even more complicated as he was an unborn child, so noone would suspect of this character.
Helentink, I hadn’t got to this yet but now you’ve got me there I am with you. It would explain why pregnant women don’t reach full term (some kind of mechanism to prevent him from infecting new life?) and why Claire is a loophole?
I have to say as well that the parallel with the Horcruxes also could make sense – think you have something here! At least its not a spaceship…

MIB doesn’t take over dead bodies.
He recreates their image.
For him to recreate Aaron – Aaron would have been stillborn.
Also why do you think MIB appeared as Christian and left Aaron behind when he took/infected Claire?
If Aaron was stillborn wouldnt Kate and Claire have noticed he was dead when she gave birth? I dont think Claire would have been able to give birth to Smokey when he is already taken the form of Aaron. That would be just too weird.
I had suggested at one time that Smokey was Aaron also. And I also integrated the idea that maybe that was the reason why they couldnt birth on the island. This theory of mine was earlier in the series, and in my mind the only way it was possible was if Jacob or someone took all the evil out of Aaron (taking MiB’s body from him) and that his old body is the “home” MiB said he wanted to get back to. But even this would take some form of time travel, since we all know that Smokey and Jacob have been around since olden olden olden times. But at this point I just dont see it being possible anymore.
Maybe Aaron isn’t MIB, but was infected by MIB.
Soon after the plane crash, Claire says she can’t feel her baby move anymore. After a short while, she does feel it move again. Could Aaron have died and then resurrected, like what happened to Sayid?
Maybe that’s why the Others then took Claire and started injecting stuff to the womb?
Would be interesting if that’s the case…
MIB’s home = Aaron’s body.

In Ab Aeterno MIB tells Richard “The Devil betrayed me. He took my body. My humanity.”
What if Jacob did take MIB’s body at one unseen point & MIB had to take a different form, maybe the form of some dead person he has killed from Jacob’s previous experiments like he mentioned.
The earliest we have seen Jacob & MIB is in 1867 but it would seem that they are alot older than that. The Tawaret statue, the well, frozen donkey wheel & the temple seem to prove that there was a civilization there at some point that was pretty sophisticated to build something to harness the Islands powers with the Frozen Donkey Wheel.
So there is probably a ton of stuff that could of happened in between then & now an with all this talk about MIB being Aaron, an Aaron being blonde an with MIB claiming that Jacob took his body (A Common Occurance In Lost) Then wouldnt MIB’s real body be Jacobs thus making him a blonde an would help explain why MIB might be Aaron.
I’ve never understood the whole “Aaron is Jacob/MIB” theory/ies because there is nothing outside of circumstantial speculation to account for such thoughts. That said, Chiefof16’s comment(s) above make it interesting to think about, with all the “odd little things” that have been said, especially Malkin’s “freak out”.

Eko73 – I completely forgot about adding in about the women not reaching full term thing, and in addition to this, a question has arose in my mind – does MIB need a woman who HAS reached almost full term to be able to “attach” himself to the baby. I think this is a possible yes, but only in the sense that a more developed baby would give him a better chance of living through them. I just read that the third trimester starts at 27 weeks, and two or three weeks prior to that is when the foetus will be “complete” (again, for lack of a better word). Maybe if the baby is not complete enough, then MIB cannot inhibit them?
scrollocke – I understand what you’re saying about MIB recreating people, but how does that explain him appearing to Jack and Claire as Christian? Christian’s body disappeared and we have had no evidence to show that there are two of his bodies on the island
continuing that, Joshcgs – Maybe MIB knew that there was a chance for Aaron to get off the island, and with that, eventually he would have his own ticket off the island.

BiNG – Good little theory, in roundabout way technically Aaron could be both MIB and Jacob ( I hope that’s what you meant lol – its really early). Although I am slightly worried (for myself and Eko73) because you mentioned about a civilisation sophisticated (or advanced) enough to harness the energy, and it automatically made me think of Alien vs Predator, which has panicked me into thinking that maybe Lost will be about aliens..
