The Light is…

I’m hoping that this is seen before tonight’s episode because I think I know what the light is. Mother said that going into the light causes “a fate worse than death” and that “the light is in every man, but every man wants more” (or something to that effect). I honestly think that the light is emanating from…(drumroll)…the Fountain of Youth. Some might ask why immortality would be a fate worse than death, but think about how long Richard has been alive, for example, and its been hundreds of years without isabella. Similarly, the Fountain is almost like a test. It needs to exist for life to exist, but if “greedy” humans go into the cave they achieve their immortality, they lose their humanity and become an omnipotent monster. This is because the only thing separating God and humanity is mortality. Perhaps we should be calling it the Fountain of Life at this point, but this further solidifies that the island is possibly the garden of eden or perhaps the existence of the fountain is simply a scientific phenomenon, just like life. The science vs. faith theme has been apparent in Lost since the beginning and I think the viewer will be left to guess wether some higher power created the light or if the light is just as random as the existence of life. Okay, now I’m getting into some deep thoughts, so I’ll stop there. Any ideas?

I've been a lost fan since the beginning, but I wasn't a lost addict until the end of the 3rd season. Lost is simply the most engaging show of all time because it taps into so many universal themes. All the haters are the ones who either don't understand it or they have never seen it.
