For fun, I wanted to see what everyone’s top 5 mysteries on LOST are, or in other terms, the 5 things you most badly want to know.
I guess I’ll start with mine (in order):
1) Who/What/Why Jacob is
2) What the island is
3) What exactly the smoke monster is
4) The 4-toed statue
5) What Vincent’s purpose is

1) Origins of Richard and the Hostiles
2) The four toed Statue … WTF? Who built it? I want to see the whole thing before it fell apart!!
3) How do people get on and off the island (and don’t give me submarines and Donkey-wheels because I don’t buy it)
4) Will you please (finally) bring in the Valenzetti equations and the nuts and bolts of how and why Dharma was working the numbers. A lot of viewers do not go on the internet and so are missing pieces…
5)Is Ben good or evil? If not good, at least is he well intentioned? What drives this guy?

First, Andre7 and A.E.S, I can answer some of your questions for you.
4. Valenzetti equation. No, that will never be answered, at least not in the satisfactory manner in which you desire. In a podcast (link can be found here under production notes http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/The_numbers), they told fans that anyone watching the show for a detailed explanation of the numbers would find themselves seriously disappointed. I’m sorry but I think it will remain shrouded in mystery.

4. Locke’s secret to Walt. I think you’re referencing the secret he told Walt in season 1. If that’s so, I think it is implied that the secret was that he couldn’t walk off island, and now he can.

I don’t think you really answered either question shanimal44. First I do not believe the pr/wr most of the time But they are going to have to at least give us an explanation that points us towards some type of answer. It may not satisfy everyone but they will give us something. And as for your opinion of A.E.S. ” I thinkk that it was implied ” isn’t really an answer.

I think they are all mysteries apart from Locke told Walt about a miracle, which sounds like him not being able to walk before coming to the Island. Maybe were wrong, but i think that if it was something else then he wouldn’t of been scared when the boar knocked him over and he was temporarily paralysed again. Anyway mine are:
1. Where is Claire?
2. Why doesn’t Widmore use Hawking to find the Island for him?
3. Why were there no cameras in Tunisia when Ben left the Island?
4. Is Rose as special as Locke?
5. How did both Locke, Jack, and Echo confront the smoke monster and survive?

Whats the story with Walt, Aaron and Horace (I know that is technically 3 but they all bit part anomalies that are apparently special)

All of those posted above are some of my main questions as well. The only one that I would add to those is, Who/Where/When is Annie? That is driving me nuts. We know she is important to the story, the writers alread told us that. When will she be brought back to the story?
Unintentionally, this thread is making a megshift list of the shows bigest mysteries! Some that I forgot about that are now bugging me again…
I want to know:
1. What is the island?
2. Who’s really running things?
3. What’s with the 4-toed statue?
4. What the heck is Richard?
5. What happened to Annie?
I sort of want to know about the coincidences i.e. Sayid meeting Kate’s dad etc. but that won’t kill me if I never know.

2. Where did Ben and Co. take the survivors from the tail end of 815
3. What is Jack’s connection to the Island. Did his father and grandfather have some kind of bond to the Island?
4. Is John really suppose to be the chosen one? Or is his purpose smaller?
5. Did/Will Jughead explode and destroy the Island
