Is Kate’s presence uninfecting Claire?

Dogen said that Claire was infected, and I trust Dogen. He described it as a darkness growing inside, which makes us think darkness/bad/evil etc. In Recon, Claire bursts out crying and thanks Kate and apologises to her. My definition of darkness/bad/evil does not involve a girl crying on someone’s shoulder/thanking them/apologising – unless she’s about to stab you in the back (which I was totally expecting, but she didn’t). Maybe goodness is infectious as well..
