Anyone remember season 4 when we see Sayid in Berlin. He’s sat in the cafe and gets chatting to some blonde, they get jiggy with each other and she tries to kill him but Sayid kills her.
Anyway, she speaks of the pager that she must answer and be at his side in a moments notice blah blah blah. I think we all just assumed that it was Widmore that was her boss, maybe her boss is this mysterious 3rd party, whether that be New DI, Paik Ind or the De Groots family.
We’ve all kind of alluded to this. The episode was called the Economist, and that is how we all refer to “him,” whomever he may be.
True. I just skimmed through that episode, and I definitely know what you are talking about. This could very well be the third party, but I ask:
Why does Ben tell Sayid that he is killing Widmore’s people?
Does he:
A) Lie to Sayid
or
B) Not know of the third party, and actually thinks these are Widmore’s people?
Knowing Ben though, I can’t see how he would not know of the 3rd party.
P.S. in the Title of this thread rd3 should be dr3.
Benipulation, as some put it. He manipulates Sayid so much, it’s quite possible it was just another lie. He probably does know about third party, I agree. It would be a cool twist if even Ben didn’t know, though. I wonder if Locke knows about them, now that he’s endowed with power?

Could it be that the 3rd party is manipulating both Widmore and Ben? for what reason i can’t think of one until we get more info. or as you both stated neither Ben nor Charles have any idea they have another rival as they are to busy competing against each other to notice the outsider coming through to win the race.

I was never under the impression that the man on the other end of that phone call Elsa made was in fact Widmore.
As for Ben, I think his lies were half-truths, as always.
I would like to think Ben knows what is going on, and that he had his reasons for killing Widmore’s associates, if in fact all of them were Widmore’s associates.
Ben is always playing both sides of the fence.
Didn’t she say the phone call came 30min? the same delay Faraday found with the rocket….so maybe…just maybe her boss was on the Island! does not mean it was Ben tho!
