So, ever since seeing the 4 toed foot in season 2, I’ve been curious as to what happened to the rest of it.

I think it could be possible the ship bombarded the statue, but not likely.
Also, I am pretty sure at the auction they name the ship the diary came from as the black rock. i could be wrong of course.
i am not sure the black rock was a pirate ship either, but rather a merchant vessel of some sort.
But we do have to wonder what happened with the people on the black rock, Jacob brought them there so maybe that is where the others came from? maybe before that it was just Jacob and MIB, remember MIB says want company and Jacob is like “yes, please God yes give me some company” -not his exact words lol, but i think that is what they were getting at.
There seems to be an awful lot of speculation in your theory. Yes, it is possible, but there is not nearly enough evidence yet to give an educated answer.
Just because the ship (presumably the Black Rock) is fine when we see it doesn’t mean that sometime after that the weather didn’t get nasty and wash the ship onto the island. After all, Desmond’s ship sat in a cove for quite a while. Still, it is hard to swallow that a storm tossed the ship so far inland.
When we saw the island moved at the end of season 4 I discussed other possibilities with fellow Lost enthusiasts. Perhaps, some time in the past, the island was moved and the black rock was already occupying the space that the island jumped to. So rather than the island disappearing into the ocean, it appeared out of thin air. That could explain why the ship ended up so far inland. Of course this theory was formulated prior to season 5, so we had not seen the ship sitting off the island.
I think that when the Island moved at one point, it moved onto the Black Rock – the reason why the Balck Rock is in the middle of the Island. It makes no sense because the ship would have been crashed but then again… we don’t really know how the island dissapeares and re-appears.
I don’t think the Black Rock crew tried to distroy the statue because it seems like the statue was cut down. The top of the foot looks like a clean cut rather that being bombed (?) I could be wrong as Lost likes us to speculate.
The question is, however, what happened to the rest of the statue? As in, where is it? Any ideas?
i think the statue is probably in the ocean, and i think that some point we will see a flashback of someone watching a news programme about it being discovered, although i believe it will be no where near where the island is now, i think it will be a place that it has been previously..
what if the ship was carrying a good load of magnetic goods and the strength of the electromagnetism literally pulled the ship onto the island and in the process crashed straight through the statue.
I always knew that because of the electromagnetism, whatever the ship was carrying probably caused it to be yanked out of the water right into the middle of the island.
I bet there is a serious pocket of energy below the ship!
But I never put it together that when the ship came flying out of water into the center of the island it probably smacking into the statue causing it to smash into pieces.

thats kinda like the black rock, small holes appaered, the slaves got their feet out, and they bloody well jogged into the jungle and crashed!
