Jack’s Grandfather, Jacob?
Is it possible that Jack’s grandfather could be Jacob? It makes sense in terms of the bloodline with Jack, Christian and Claire. Also, I can’t give you the exact quote or episode but i know that Jack refers to his grandfather at some point as a great man and Ben refers to Jacob as a great man. Also i thought it was interesting when Jack’s grandfather said something to the effect of “what would

I absolutely believe jack’s Granfather has a role to play with the island. I’m leaning towards the theory of the older people being previous inhabitants of the island. Especially where Jack is concerned….perhaps he has always been destined to be on the island and follow his father and his father.
Good connection with the magic– it also made me think about the cabin and the special effects being nothing more than a magic trick to serve a greater purpose. That purpose would be making sure certain people believed which in turn would allow certain events to take place. I think its possible that Jack’s granfather could be Jacob or have a role in creating Jacob…or even further, he could be sharing this role of Jacob with others…
Do you think the white rabbit in the magic show that Jack’s grandfather was attending is a sign to support this theory?
AS31, great connection with the magic box! I definitely feel Jack’s grandfather plays a role in the story.
I think lostfan makes great points, with the references to the magic tricks on ‘the island’.
hmm…..Illusions?
I feel this is a great theory and could very well be right. The creators did say that we already have seen Jacob in a non speaking roll (the eye in the cabin). Very well done here
I’m glad you guys agree to some extent with my theory. I figured there were so many other ways for them to have Jack grab something from his father, for them to introduce his grandfather as a new character he must have some greater significance.
It did seem a little sketchy that he needed to see his grandfather for something of Christian’s.
