Something Fishy

Did anyone seem to think that there was something fishy going on with Kate and Hurley boarding the flight to go back?

  1. I do believe they were forced. Aaron was used against Kate. Ben turns in Sayid and sets up his transport out of the country. Hurley is a mystery to me. The guitar is a clue. Something to do with Charlie was used to get Hurley back. Perhaps Charlies ghost convinced him… who knows at this point. They’re introdusing so many new questions while answering one. we’re gonna be in the dark about all this for a few episodes I’m sure.
We also know the pilot (always forget his name, lawnmower-man guy) has a role to play. And the Fed with Sayid and the other 1st class passenger (funny that actors name is Sayid [spelt said]) are now in the mix. I think we’ll find out why Kate came back soon but Hurley’s story, not ’till the end of this season.
    ….Ack…..

  2. I would agree they were forced by something as well, and that Aaron was used to convince kate. Good point with hurley- the guitar does lead to a charlie incident.

  3. lostfan, regarding Hurley, I think it’s safe to make the assumption that Charlie intervened.

He told Hurley, he needed to be on that flight.

Kate has given Aaron up, so naturally she is upset. Returning to ‘the island’ was something she was opposed to, more than any other character.

  4. Kate definitely WAS fidgety and weird. I think Hurley wanted to go back and the “Charlie” visitation was enough to convince him to get on the plane.

Aaron could be on the plane, in coach!

  5. I tend to agree with most of the points here. Charlie probably influenced Hurley. He doesn’t like to talk about it when he sees a ghost so his mood change could be a clue in itself. I think Sayid beat the crap out of Ben (thus his injuries) and then had him arrested and arranged for him to be deported through Guam. As for Kate my suspicion has been that she’s involved with Widmore somehow. There were clues tossed out in the first season about a “double agent” living among the 815 survivors. This continued even after Ethan died so he was not the person being hinted at int he various clues on the Oceanic website in season 1.

Kate makes perfect sense to me. She’s always looking out for her own interests first and foremost. She’s a con artist who easily manipulates Jack and Sawyer when it suits her. Her complete change in attitude in a matter of hours which went from telling Jack to stay away from her, to going to his house and getting in his bed without a single word is extremely strange. Especially that by agreeing to go to the island she knows it means never seeing Aaron again. And something is odd with Sun as well. She walked away from her own daughter without a second thought? On the hope that Jin is alive? Why didn’t she go home and get her daughter and insist that she go with her? Something here isn’t right. Again it could be Widmore at work since Sun was clearly involved with him at some level.

  6. Jukin – My problem with Sayid beating up Ben, which would explain his injuries, is that Ben said “I had to fulfill a promise I made to an old friend” which does not correlate. Also, Ben was not wearing a cast during his phone call to Jack, so if he was injured he would already have a cast on. He was in no rush to call Jack, as the butcher shop was locked when Jack arrived, and Jack was by no means late for the flight after picking up Locke and coffin.

I agree with your other points.

Something to add about Hurley’s situation: Remember that he bought 78 (SEVENTY-EIGHT!) – first class or front of the plane whatever – tickets. Sure he’s insanely rich and can afford it, but he does not seem like the kind of guy who is smart enough to make that decision on his own. Perhaps (like his previous situation with Dave escaping the mental hospital), maybe Hurley thinks Charlie is coming with them, thus he is carrying a guitar for Charlie, and Charlie gave him the idea to buy all the extra tickets (note how there were still enough front plane tickets for Jack, Ben etc. and the marshall and other dude.

Not sure if that is a reasonable theory based on the fact that I’m not sure if Dominic Monaghan is credited for the season.

  7. jukin- interesting take on Ben’s injuries coming from sayid instead of an encounter with Penny or Desmond. I like it.

…I’m not sure about kate….something obviously happened for her to get on the plane and leave Aaron….the double agent idea is also interesting……I tend to lean towards her being forced somehow though…

  8. Jukin, I think it would be unlikely that Ben would want anyone to take away the pleasure of exacting his revenge on Widmore!

It is likely, Sayid could have intervened, to prevent Ben from carrying out his plan. Sayid distanced himself from Ben, and I would guess he knew she was a target of Ben’s.

I think, kimberly got this one right.

As for Kate being a ‘secret agent’. I’ve heard that nonsense being passed around since the end of Season 3.

There is not one thing, or an iota of proof, that substantiates these allegations.

  9. Dabs It’s just a hunch about Kate. I just don’t trust her. Ever wonder what happened between her and Ben after their breakfast together during he time as a captive? Remember when Miles first appeared? She did whatever she had to do to learn if she was still being sought by the police. She betrayed Locke and the others by bringing Miles to see Ben. She didn’t care about anything but getting what she needed. It’s always going to be her first. Would it surprise you if at the end of the series you found out that she was a traitor all this time? It wouldn’t surprise me at all. Like I said it’s just a hunch.

  10. Hey Jukin, I have heard all of those arguments, and until there is some evidence pointing to this, I will remain on the side lines.

There are some people I don’t trust, but it doesn’t make them traitors either, or does it?

I absolutely believe there is a traitor among them. In any good mystery, there is going to be one! So, why not Lost? There is everything to this story.

This is a time will tell thing, which will be supported by evidence, when and if.

    Just, my humble opinion.

  11. Jukin i also believe that Widmore has a lot of influence on what is going on. Frank (a former Widmore employee) is flying the Plane to the ‘Window’ provided by Hawking (funded by Widmore), plus we know that Sun also started working for Widmore too. I don’t think he is after the Island though. If he wanted to get back there then he could easily do so.
