searching……..?
Can someone post a link or pic to the obituary regarding Jeremy Benthams teenage son, I cant find anything that actually shows this.
On that note, if it was there, could Locke have not just assumed the identity of a Mr Jeremy Bentham, who may have had a teenage son, not relating at all. yeah it would be sneaky, but what isnt on the show?
either way, link if possibe?

i know someone is looking right now…
You knew I’d be searching for you! lol The exact notice, as Jack read.

So nothing on this teenage son huh? Tsk tsk, someones been telling tales, or we missed a better article pic. This is all over the place and I just dont get it…or is it too late, and I missed it in what you posted :]
No, you didn’t miss it! That is the exact obituary, as Jack reads it in the paper.
No mention of a teenage son!
I wondered why nothing more had ever been said about this, from the writers, or anywhere else.
Yet, I also heard this too, initially.
I’ll see what else I can find out tomorrow.
Rumors, one person says it, next thing you know, thers 20 theories out on who is his son. Walt? Come on, people arent even thinking sometimes. I dont mean disrespect to anyone, It just makes me nuts. Enough to ponder already without nonsense.
BTW…If it really does exist, then my apologies. And if its Walt, Ill ride my flying pig to the store and buy you some magic beans.
lo…..flying pig, huh? I already think you’ve been sampling the magic beans! haha
I meant that with love, btw!
cntstlkdapshmthflulobeaeweans…
I think you just said something mean to me, didn’t you?
Anyway, your point is well taken. I have never heard anymore about a teenage son, and I think we would.
The writers seem to be very thorough.
no I said “cntstlkdapshmthflulobeaeweans
Yep, you did get me good on that one! lol
You have never been mean to me!
I am a late nighter, unfortunately. I do my best thinking in the wee hours.
Well, truthfully, I never stop thinking. lol
It’s a problem! lol
That thinking Dabs, it will get you if out of control. Reminds me of a Lost liek story I heard long ago.
There was a group on an expidition in the arctic. Windchill and temperature were at a lethal level. The man leading the expidition, cant remember his name, sent four of his men to get help two hours later they still hadnt returned.
Becoming mad with fear, hunger, and hypothermia, the leader, stood up, removed his gear, turned to his team and said, “Im going for help, I may be sometime.” and was never seen again
Sorry, I look for any reaason to storytell
;]
Okay AES, I’m hearing you on this one, but also consider that half the time theories that arise are connections that people are drawing using their own conclusions on the perspective given. (Which is why I happen to like the use of the “eye shots” on LOST, because it is a reminder that PERSPECTIVE is often how we base our knowledge about history, events, ‘facts’, etc. regardless if they are the complete story.) I hope that makes sense. I think it probably does to you considering your own use of the “eye shot”!!! 😉
So here’s the thing about Walt and the ‘nonsense’ that is floating around about him as ‘the teenage son’ that was referenced in the obituary…at least, from my perspective. (Someone else could dispute this, which is fine. It’s all just talking for fun about a show we like anyway, right???)
Way back in 2007, there was a podcast from Comic Con where the actor who played Michael was with Damon and Carlton. Someone asked who was in the coffin, and D/C asked Harold since he had been watching the show as a ‘regular viewer.’ Here is the transcript from that:
CARLTON: Who do you think is in the coffin, Harold?
DAMON: Yeah if you had to make a guess, who would you say is in the coffin?
HAROLD: Well I mean, this is just me guessing, and someone on, I think, online had blown up the uh article that Jack showed to Kate, and it said that he had left behind a teenage son, so my guess is that, the person with the son, it’s probably Locke. (Crowd laughs) It’s just a guess, I don’t know.
DAMON: I think a very educated one.
So to me, that was one point of reference that someone had made, well before the screen shots of the 20 somewhat intelligible words (of what, 200?) were there for the scrutinizing.
So that kind of stuff is how rumors and then theories and ideas get started. So it’s not necessarily ‘nonsense’ to me, it’s other people who have time to watch/listen to things like the Comic Con podcasts or the podcasts with the producers and then they go and post things all over the place.
I agree with Dabs that we haven’t heard anything more of a teenage son, so we might just need to let it go. But it seems like half the things posted on sites like this are people trying to make any connection possible to further ‘their’ theory. We all do it, right? Ben/Thomas; Jacob/Christian; “Kate is pregnant”; Sayid kicked Ben’s butt; etc… You get what I’m saying?
Overall, I really appreciated your main point on the Walt issue about wondering where he is and how that will get addressed.
I hope this explains at least one angle on the whole thing. Truce?
Hmm, I didnt hear about that. Youre a bag of info for my sanity Kim, Thank you :]
But I think the island would explode if I didnt dispute evrything that anyone says.
This is how I percieve that interview.
Harold already knows of his demise on Lost before the interview, hence the blown up part. He takes a shot at it being him in the coffin a)because he knows he is dying and uses logic. b)has no clue and still thinks he is in the coffin, hence the teenage son. Or c) was maybe told it was him, gets viewers to think its him, and throws Lockes name in for a gag at the end.
And yes Kim we are just talking about our favorite show. I mean no harm, as Dabs said, sometimes just dont even pay attention to me ;]
I love a good argument/discussion, and love to push people to prove me wrong. If i am wrong, I can stop theorizing/researching/dwelling on a worthless idea. And if Im right, maybe convince others to theorize/research/dwell on my ideas and further them.
As serious as i am in my theories, thats how not serious I am in squabbles about theories. Its definetly fun for me, but allows me to learn as well.
You keep me on my toes, I like that.
I remember reading about it saying that the deceased had a teenage son. But, after looking at the numberous Lost sites out there I can’t seem to find anything about it! 😐
It’s obvious that Jeremy Bentham’s teenage son is Ben!
Just kidding.
