Astrology, Free Will and Lost

Here lately, what with all of the Time Travel stuff, Free Will has become a major component of discussions revolving around the show. However, the symbolism and ideas around it have always been present throughout the show.

My ideas on destiny and free will come from a background in Astrology, where the battle between free will and destiny is an unending source of contention between different groups. The very idea of Astrology is that the date and time of your birth can be used to calculate not only your basic personality, but events in your current life, and possibly even chart out major events in your past lives. (At least in Evolutionary Astrology) I cannot help but believe that the writers have struck upon these same core issues in the building up of the show.

The real question is, was the last 5 years just filler to get to a “predestined” ending, or has the original intent of the show already been covered and now the writers themselves are “lost” and just looking for a way to end it?
