A question about the numbers.
Hello Lost fans,
I’m new to the forums and I apologize if i’m repeating a question that may have been posted in the past, here is my question 🙂
My friend told me about the the numbers and how if you look them up on a peridoic table the elements make up an exotic matter. I’ve also read about the energy required to bend space and time needs to be as powerful as the energy in a star. Could the same type of ‘exotic matter’ be inside of the frozen donkey wheel? How could that ‘exotic matter’ end up on the island in the first place? Is it possible the elements can mimic the energy found in a star? This doesn’t really make sense to me and i’m hoping that someone can answer my questions or debunk my friends theory. Thank you in advance :D.

It’s hypothetical so who would really know that you’d get exotic matter by combining certain elements? I’m guessing that since it has negative mass it would actually be made of materials we’ve never observed before.

Joking. Seriously though, Im pretty good at many aspects of the show, but if we are moving on to chemistry class, Im going to the nurses office.
This is a great thought, and would love if someone, whether you or anyone else who knows anything about chemistry and this subject to dig on this one….actually I demand it!

Ok, but I’m sure the producers realize that combining six elements with positive mass isn’t going to result in a substance with negative mass. Exotic matter is something completely different from anything human beings have actually observed.
This is interesting but it’s not going to play out on the show.
It sounds more like the ingredients to an alien metal.

Muahaha it wouldn’t result in negatively charged matter 🙂 we can all do the sums and these elements don’t really like each other when they combine guys sorry. BUT exotic matter is also called antimatter
Which is wrongly charged matter aka positively charged electrons negatively charged protons and neutral neutrons as always.
Now when a particle of identical matter and it’s antimatter counterpart unite you end up with a motherload of neutrons that sit around doing nothing. But that process unleashes diabolical amounts of energy and that something that made matter matter and antimatter antimatter is lost and in effect disappears. Sound familiar to anyone?? I think the idea that the donkey wheel has antimatter inside it is a great one 🙂 for the electromagnetic energy released in this process is enough to create black holes. Singularities that bend the laws of space and time hence the possible island time jump.

also time theorists nearly always end up falling into the time loop theory the main example of this is the existence of the universe itself.
I’m sure someone else here has read Stephen Hawkins book on time and he explains that conscious time can have no beggining or end simply because the beggining and end are exactly the same point in time and thus we fall into the loop theory again
He also said: ‘only fools are enslaved by space and time’

Anti-matter and exotic matter are not the same. The anti-matter equivalent to some form of matter has the same mass but opposite charge. Exotic matter is something that defies the classical laws of nature which could mean that it has negative mass or is repelled instead of attracted by gravity or something like that.
The other major difference is that anti-matter exists and exotic matter is only hypothetical.
