He threatened, and while Ben’s a liar I don’t think he lies to himself … then he went back to the island.

Remember when he left the Lamp post? He told Jack that he was going to go fulfill a promise to an old friend. Then he showed up all bloody at a marina phone booth to call Jack. He may have done it just then, but we don’t know yet.
If Penny was even at the Marina. I’m not entirely sure about the timeline… If Desmond was able to said that far, that fast then he should have been a lock to win that race around the world! I think he flew to LA.
OK, Desmond is gone. Contacts Penny. She looks for him for 3 yrs and finds ‘it’. He remembers he’s to find Faraday’s mom and promises Penny not to go to the island, but she says she and Charlie will go with him.
Weren’t they on the boat pretty much ever since? How could Ben kill them on the boat?
Charlie could be ‘Charlie’ if they went back in time and then got off the island and he was raised in Australis, ‘cept I think his brother is older. Then we still wonder where’s Penny/Desmond.
Desmond is a character that CAN change events from going back/forth … does Ben know this so he can kill Penny earlier (e.g. purge)?
No evidence Ben’s not beat up by himself to gain emotional leverage (his m.o.), though he does seem a bit smug so could have killed Penny … but then what’s his motive for getting back to the island?

Like Benny says, Ben probably attempted to take Pennys life when he was at the marina.
We don’t know if he succeeded yet though.

highbrow – excellent point!
Do we know for sure when Desmond went to visit Widmore in England? Perhaps it was a few months before he ended up at the Lamp Post.
That being said, would he really want to sail all that way when his friends are in desparate need for help?
Maybe he flew to LA with Penny and Charlie and rented/bought a new boat over there?
The significance of Ben being at the marina must mean something… ? 😐
I keep hearing all this about penny being dead…how does anyone know she dies?..ive never seen anything saying she died or dies
Henry, it’s speculation at the moment.
We know Ben has vowed to kill Penny to Charles Widmore.
Whether or not he does is uncertain but we know it’s a possibility as Ben does seem to get what he wants, no matter how he goes about it.
It’d ne nice to see Ben fail in his killing-Penny-mission though.
We’ll just have to wait and see 🙂
Goodness, if Henry doesn’t know …

Maybe Widmore has another daughter from his years on the island?
Willis – I think when Ben told Widmore he would kill his daughter he said something along the lines of “Penelope is it?”.
I think it’s definately Penny Ben is after, regardless of whether Widmore has another daughter.
No. Ben has bigger Goals. as we should.
Great question
i agree of the possiblity that something may have happened to Penny. “the marina phone booth”
